As many people have recently noted, amour at the moment is very unbalanced, with the material price often not at all relating with the outcome of armour points. This suggestion should hopefully cover this and I will do my best to avoid contreversy.
For a start, all faction armours should be buffed up by two armour points. For balance this should include mithril, to keep it dominant, but exclude all leather based armours (like ranger) as they are unreallistically good. This is to make the faction armours more useful and to reduce the OPness of heavily enchanted weapons. As the new Mithril will have 22 armour points and elite armours will be almost touching 20 I propose another armour point in the bar.
Now I shall move on to the specifics, certain armours that to not reflect their material price. I will begin with the new 15 pointers (Rohirric, Dunlending, Dorwinion and Dalish) I think the best solution to these is to revert the recipe back to the old iron and leather recipe. This would then reflect my belief that all faction armours should be better than vannila ones. The only problem with this idea is Dalish armour. As they live so near to the Dwarves, they could in theory be buffed to 17, my proposed iron strength. However I believe this would upset the balance of the mod and they should just "STAY PUT".
Another problem is the elvish set's they cost as much as the expensive Dwarven and Uruk but only provides the new faction iron protection. My proposition is to add a new Elvish Steel Ore akin to the Orc version. This would only be smeltable in an Elvish Forge. It does seem a bit of a waste of the alloy slots but when elite Evish weapon sets are added i'm sure Noldor Steel and Elvish Warsteel will make full use of these slots.
Near Harad armour is another of those anomalys. One solution would be to add a new alloy, desert bronze, another would be to lower the stats to the new faction bronze level (15) but I think the best solution is to revert the recipe back to iron.
I propose to add some new chainmail armour sets. These would be weaker than their normal counterparts but would have a unique new feature, they would, via a toggle button in the survival menu, be able to be hidden under player skins and in the future, when it is added clothes. This would serve the purpose of hiding the armour/showing off player skins without being very weak. Instead of the regular names chain armour would have the Chain Tunic, Guantlets and Boots a Chain helmet is absurd and natural users would use the regular faction helmet. Chain armour would spawn on many NPC's and some such as regular dwarves would have a chance of wearing hidden chain armour. It would be undedectable to the player. A new iron mail is also added as if it looks as Crappy as vannila chain I don't really want it in. I imagine a more scaly look for the mod. If any texturers want to have a try at making something they are more than welcome.
Chain armour would be crafted by the rings of its correct material which would be used in the reguar shapes to craft it. Varietys woul be as follows: Bronze, Iron, Gold, Mithril, Orcish, Elvish, Dwarven, Blue Dwarven, Uruk and Black Uruk, the final perhaps only being added because of the new achievment "BLACKMAIL!". NPCS of men would often spawn with iron or bronze armour, but the lucky other species of ME would be able to use their species specific mail sets.
So to Summarise:
+All armours (excluding vannila and leather based ones) are buffed up by 2 armour points.
