Intro
I have been noticing that the jungles tend to be fairly empty and not as dangerous as one would think they should be so I have decided to create a suggestion concerning the mostly the jungle, but also somewhat the tribes of far harad.
Mobs
Snakes
As the name described this section will be on snakes. First of movement, they will move like any other mob, but prefer logs (similar to ocelots preferding beds, but not as strong) and the tail will follow the head similar to the game snake, except it would wave. Also they would be able to climb wood and leaves.
Constrictors
These would, on touch, attach to the player and wrap around them for 2 seconds, giving enough mining fatigug to stimulate limbs being trapped. It would then deal damage based on size and detatch. Finally they would not drop a mobs drops on kill but instead would drop bones and furs over time as well as on death. Sizes Medium: Boas Large: pythons anacondas (shorter than pythons, but with much more health)
Striking Snakes
These would from up to 2 blocks lightning fast strike the player (or small animals) giving poison and some damage. These would be more brightly colored than constrictors, and deal less damage (poison) These would consist of vipers, bushmasters, cobras, and mambas (and other striking snakes) (all small size).
Frogs
About the size of termites, but quadropedal these critters can jump high, but have little health
Tree Frogs
Can climb wood and leaves. They are green with red and white eye varieties.
Dart Frogs (implemented in endorsed suggestion)
Can be milked by tauredain players for 'concentrated poison'. This poison is poison 2 and can be used on tauredain darts and daggers. Also if a player hits a dart frog while damaged they will get poison 3 (poison gets in cut) also these are not hunted by other mobs. Varieties are green, blue, gold, and red. These frogs also have black markings on their backs.
birds of the jungle
Better looking birds that live in the jungle.
parrot
Multi-colored birds that sound like tauredain villagers.
birds of paradise
Vibrant versions of the current birds, these birds will have a chance to do dances if in the presence of other birds of the same type.
birds of prey
these have 12HP and deal 4 damage per hit, they can go into a lightning fast dive (mostly down) and hunt rodents small fish and other birds.
Variants:
Harpy eagles
Crowned Eagles
Black eagles
fish
These are new entities that live in water and are hunts by crocs, they come in blue yellow red and green. Also they can be 'caught' by hitting them with a tribes pike, a trident, your hand, or catching them with a fishing rod. Hitting them with any other weapon will yield a 'savaged fish' (inedible). Finally on right click with a jar any small fish can be captured similar to a butterfly, except the jar is full of water.
other variants are piranas and apimas
rodents
Small critters the size of termites (or larger up to the size of a pig (ROUS!!!)) They have 2 short legs on either side a head on front (possibly with a snout dependant on species) and some with a tail on back they drop 1 'rodent pelt' and some '<type of rodent> meat' the pelt is basically a 1/4 block big rug, and the meat does 1 hunger point, or 3 and 1 saturaiion if cooked. Varieties would be rats, mice, hamsters, voles, and of course ROUSs (Capybara, yes it is a real animal the size of an ROUS, but it is a relitive of the guinnie pig, not rat).
Predetors of the jungle floors
honestly lame name i know, but currently there are only scorpians which are even eaten by people. also there are crocs but those are near water only
Tiger
spawn in trees, or on the forest floor these beasts are far more dangerous than wimpy lions. they have 35 HP and you can not hear them moving. they will deal 10 damage (they always go for the neck and as such i recommend only certain helms can block this, as such this is armor piercing, and paralyzes the victim), but have a slow attack rate. they are a little larger than lionesses, and have the iconic orange and black stripes.
also perhaps these animals would have a camo similar to that of a ranger until within 3 blocks.
Leopard
similar to the tiger, but smaller with only 25HP and a spotted pattern instead of stripes these cats will attack from behind, and attack fast dealing 6HP each hit, but no paralysis.
Primates
Orangutans
very large, these apes have 30 HP and are the strongest primate on earth (there are trolls so probably not ME) they are not hunted at all, and are neutral to players, acting similar to wolves if attacked (all will protect the herd/pack/whatever) they would deal 6 damage a hit with massive knockback and would frequently use vines.
plants
vines
Link large trees and look like green mishapen horizontal grape posts. These can be mounted on right click (below vine) and traversed at 4x food consumption.
poisonous plants
Crafted with a bottle for a poison bottle, on mining one the player will get poison.
kelp
Edible underwater plant.
branches
Looking like leaves with a very small log in them they drop 2 sticks with the leaves drops, and are effectively mined with an axe.
Peppers
these are found wild and in tauredain village farms. they grow in bushes similar to berries, but much slower, and can be grown with pepper seeds (craft 1 pepper by itself in a CT) this would get a pepper plant that over 80 minutes perhaps will grow into a full-blown pepper bush. these hot peppers would be eaten by the tauredain, and bought/sold by farmers.
Resources
Mortar/Pestle
this is crafted with a stick and a bowl, and is used for crushing various materials.
Corn Meal
corn (not cooked) with a pestle, this will not use up the pestle.
Cocoa Paste
Roast cocoa beans and pestle this will be used almost solely for Xocolatl.
Food
Roast cocoa beans
cook cocoa beans in a furnace or hobbit oven, these give half a point, and no saturation.
Chocolate
xocolatl
this was a drink from the gods, it was a bitter chocolate drink made of peppers , cocoa (no sugar), and corn meal. for the aztecs this was a drink for nobles only, and no women, but for the mayans (the culture tauredain were based on) it was a drink for all. also Xocolatl (mayan version) was highly praised by all for medicinal benifits, and as such i say it should act like a weaker remedy (perhaps only 2 affects it cures instead of all bad, such as nausea and slowness)
Recipe:
Milk, a pepper, cocoa paste, and corn meal in a shapeless recipe, this will give bitter cocoa, craft this by itself to simulate the frothing, and you get xocotatl.
Chocolate Bars
I dont think that mayans had chocolate bars, but they certainly had the ingrediants and kids who would want it, so.
Recipe: cocoa paste and sugar, shapeless.
This gives 2 points of hunger, and 1 saturation.
Cook Fires (in other endorsed thread?)
The tribes of harad have no forges ovens furnaces or fires, so i propose a cook-fire. tribes since the taming of fire have always used fire for cook-fires, weather it was roasting a pig, or the modern take of roasting marshmallows. these would be the same as a hobbit oven, except 8 slots instead of 9. if implemented these would be their own structure in each of the villages, with the most elaborate being the tauredain followed by the limwaith in order to prevent forest fires.
Recipe:
S, S, S
S, X, S
C, L, C
Where S is a stick X is nothing, L is a log, and C is cobblestone, this is crafted in any tribal CT.
Trading
New tribe NPC, Cook. These NPCs spawn next to a cook fire, and buy/sell the following: All: Buy: coal, charcoal, and logs, as well as fish. Sell: bones (normal, such as bones from a steak chicken or fish). Tauredain: Buy: rodent flesh, piranas, and chicken(or whatever the birds drop). Sell: cooked rodent, cooked chicken, cooked fish (including piranas), and banana bread. Moredain: Buy: raw lion, zebra, and rhino meat, as well as mangoes and bananas. Sell: cooked lion, zebra and rhino, as well as normal bread. Cerinrim: Buy: same meats as moredain. Sell: same meats as moredain. Limwaith: Buy: fish. Sell: cooked fish.
also shamans buy poison plants, and cooked hamsters, along with Buying and selling Xocotatl
Achievements
jungle delicacies
Eat cooked hamster meat.
lightning fast
Get bit by a viper.
Can't Breath...
Be attacked and killed by a python or anaconda.
Tarzan
Mount a vine.
Witch Doctor
Make a brew of Xocolatl.
Tribal Cook
Cook a food with a cook-fire.
other
ROUS=Rodent of unusual size, basically slightly smaller than the largest rodent on record these monsters look like rats and will savagely fight and who cross their path, for more detail watch the princess bride. this is a joke in the suggestion capybaras which would actually be them arent actually all that hostile, rats would be.
tauredain helm/chieftain helm lengthened to covor neck, provides immunity to the tigers paralysis effect, and slightly decreases damage. also perhaps the adition of a helm on a normal CT that includes this tiger protection as well.
Jungle Roads: i was recently told these use tauredain brick, and this would be highly unlikely as the jungle is quite massive and they would not have bothered building stone roads across the entire jungle, so i propose these use dirt path blocks instead.
Baskets: the new reed baskets should be used instead of chests in tauredain builds.
Tauredain Ruins: ruined stone versions of tauredain houses spawning in the mangrove, swamp, and possibly savana as remnants of their former glory (these use wood chests)
More ideas on peppers, as well as an alchoholic Xocolatl can be found here.
