Currently in the mod, crafting on a factions crafting table is possible with one alignment. As soon as you have one alighnment, you can craft anything, even if doing so would require much technical knowledge or if the knowledge has been lost to all but the wise, case in point Galvorn Armor. What I suggest is a system where a player must be a certain alighnment to craft certain items. Items like bricks and foods, should still be possible at +1, but harder to make items like armor should be raised to something like +50 alignment. How this would work is pretty simple, if you don't have the proper alignment, the item will not craft just as if you didn't have all of the pieces there. If you do have the correct alignment, craft away. This system will have to be tweaked by Mevans as time goes on. But, it will be a way to make certain items harder to get. It also makes sense. A faction would not part with it's secret's to a mere stranger. How armor and weapons were made would require gaining their trust and then spending time learning from them. This is sort of shown with the alignment bar. Some factions will have lower requirements than others, with dwarves being the most secretive and therfore requiring more alignment to craft their items.
Creidit to Ffets for the following idea: It should have some means to display, if you tried the wrong ingredients, or the recipe you are using is right, but you just lack of the alignment. Like showing the produce, but greyed out, if you don't have enough alignment.
Disclaimer: This post is supposed to be simple and simply bring up the topic. The exact way it would be implemented and how high the requirements can be decided later after testing. This is simply a post to get the ball rolling. I believe that alignment based crafting would be a great new way to nerf and buff certain items.
