Welcome, my friend! This is twenty-third suggestion in the series of biome improvements. In this we shall be focusing on Near Harad. The prior suggestions can be found below:
Biome Improvements:
As a note, Haradrim camels should be one-humped, being Dromedaries, not Mongolian camels.
Haradrim should be rarer in the Fertile biome, as they weren't all gallivanting about at the time of the player's arrival.
To be honest, though, that's all I can think of. Leave suggestions in the comments.
Eastern Desert: A desert biome further to the East. Red and yellow sand both spawn here.
Khand: A dry steppe, with grass, hills, boulders, and some sand. The Variags will dwell here eventually. Trees are near nonexistant.
The Harad Fertile biome is replaced by New-Kingdom, Middle-Kingdom, and Old-Kingdom.
Structures:
Moredain Slave Farm: Yes, I know the Moredain are allies with the Haradrim. However, this has precedent with the followers of Sauron-Mordor enslaved Easterings as well. These could be criminals, rebels, or hostages to ensure the loyalty of the Moredain. They would function like farmer units. The farm would be similar to the Mordor farm, save made with Haradric bricks and having huts for the slaves.
The Harad Subfactions:
I tried my best to replicate the description of the Near Harad "Kingdoms", and the best way I can think of is by making several small states existing in Harad. All will use the same civilians, crafting table, and banner. The only differences between them will be in the units they provide for the Haradrim war machine. Note the names are WIP, and suggestions are requested.
New-Kingdom: Slightly influenced by the Numenoreans, these are the heavy infantry of the Haradrim. Their soldiers wear Haradrim armor with helms made of iron, and use steel weapons.
Middle-Kingdom: This faction is closest to the Moredain. They will provide the Mumakil, along with levies for the Haradrim.
Old-Kingdom: Through trade with the forces of Khand, these people have developed the art of horsemanship. They will hire the majority of the Haradrim cavalry.
All subfactions will be able to hire Haradrim Militia. These wear a mix of red and yellow leather, with a Haradrim Tunic (red and gold with a snake in black). These would wield bronze spears and scimitars, and can ride horses. A different face-paint style for each might be cool. Red and gold for the New, all red for the Central, and red and black for the Old? Speaking of which, the Haradrim should have more face-paint, gold earrings and hairbands, and wear red cloaks as mentioned in TTT.
Equipment:
The armor and weapons of the Haradrim needs some editing to fit the book. The armor and shield are signifigantly off, so I have provided a possible replacement for both. The Harondor Shield is an accurate replacement.
Furthermore, it is said that the Haradrim did not use spears on horseback. This should be removed, therefore, in favor of scimitars.
Some of the spears and scimitars of the Haradrim are described as being bronze. These should also be a thing, slightly weaker than the iron variants. For the helms, it is the reverse.
Finally, the poleaxe and mace are kind of unfitting and redundant. Removal might be a good option.
Thank you for reading this suggestion. As always, comments, Kudos, and constructive critiscism is most welcome.
