[Closed:Expired] On Copper Wiring

I do realize the feature I am talking about is planned. I have read the WntS. I do not, however, think that this is "rather obvious". If I am wrong, you have my sincerest apologies.

I know that many people, myself included, want a Middle Earth friendly redstone alternative. As electrical wiring is made of copper in real life, and in Middle Earth, copper has very little use, I suggest that there be a way to use copper to make wiring. I do realize that copper wiring would not have been around in Middle Earth, but since there probably wouldn't be an electricity equivalent anyway, I think this is worth a shot.

If this suggestion is accepted, I may add more details. If this is still a violation of FAQ or WntS, I apologize, and would understand if this strand is removed. Thank you.

I'd love this, but it's far too out-of-tech for Middle Earth, this is far past muskets and blunderbusses. If anything, a rope/pulley mechanism would be more useful

I definitely agree. I was mostly trying to use what the LotR mod already had. I would LOVE to have another use for copper. Bronze is cool, but, compared to iron, it is almost worthless. And, if I'm not mistaken, copper can only be used for goblets.

I, personally, would love a rope and pulley system, but I don't know how doable it would be. I will start thinking about it.

This is the post related to this topic that apparently got the attention of the mod team, as appeared when the topic was addressed elsewhere (don't remember where and when), some months ago. The thread was originally removed in a cleanout ... before we started archiving suggestions threads. I had however kept a link to in on my profile page. I just restored the thread and moved it to the archives.

Regarding the suggestion to use copper wiring: No, that would assume and imply transport of electricity and by no means did Middle-earth civilisation have the technology to produce electrical current in the Third Age.

That makes complete senss. I had mostly wanted a use for copper, but the more I think about it, they would not have realy had electricity of ANY kind. Thank you!

I will keep thinking on uses for copper, though . . .

They didn't really have electricity, sorry. also i believe there was a planned system involving ropes, pulleys, and gears

I don't remember posting that "suggestion" XD some servers sell redstone, which is cool, but copper is pretty useless.

When I do eventually implement a redstone substitute, it will be based on ropes, not wires. We've had that planned since around the time the gates were first being developed.
