[Endorsed] Express-Trains!

I was reading The Fellowship of the Ring last night, and I saw that there is a very strange quote around the Long-Expected Party! "And there was also one last surprise, in honour of Bilbo, and it startled the hobbits exceedingly, as Gandalf intended. The lights went out. A great smoke went up. It shaped itself like a mountain seen in the distance, and began to glow at the summit. It spouted green and scarlet flames. Out flew a red-golden dragon - not life-size, but terribly life-like: fire came from his jaws, his eyes glared down; there was a roar, and he whizzed three times over the heads of the crowd. They all ducked, and many fell flat on their faces. The dragon passed like an express train, turned a somersault, and burst over Bywater with a deafening explosion." 
Clearly, with this book being written by Frodo and Sam, they must have known what an express-train is, as otherwise, how would it be in the story? Therefore, we must surmise that these were present in Middle-earth. But how should we add them? 
Obviously, Hobbits would have them, as Bilbo and Frodo knew what they are. They should be green, yellow, and gold. The Dwarves should get them too, as they were master craftsmen, and how else would the Hobbits get them? They would be gold, grey and dark blue for Durin's Folk, and blue-grey and gold for the Blue Mountains. Isengard and Mordor were both very industrialized, and without a doubt they would have come up with this technology. Therefore, they should get trains as well, black and red for Mordor and grey and white for Saruman. Goblins were cunning and loved wheels. They should get trains too, shoddy brown and grey ones, that belch out smoke. The Noldor were better craftsmen than Orcs, and if the Orcs could devise such a device then the High Elves could do better. Their trains should not emit smoke, and be blue and silver with a swan-prow. Gondor had the crafting knowledge of Numenor behind it. Doubtless they could devise a train! Theirs should be black and silver flying many banners. Since Rohan traded with Gondor, they would have aquired such machines. Green and white trains for the Lords of the Mark! Of course, they would prefer horses, but in steep and difficult mountain-passes, trains serve excellently. 
Trains would travel upon rail-lines. I propose that these appear next to every major road, to facilitate travel and gameplay. We can assume that they were not being used during the War of the Ring because it was become dangerous to travel and both sides would attack enemy trains.
