Hey everyone, as this infamous game for many among you has just been released, I wanted to know your opinion on it.
As Tolkien fans, do you consider that this game will cause many people to consider the legendarium as just another Hollywoodian story? And do you consider it to be deplorable?
If so, why would Tolkien's philosophy be superior to Shadow of Mordor's philosophy (which is, if I may say, a very liberal, pro-globalization and pro-consumerism philosophy)?
Has Tolkien brought anything of interest to our society? Should we make sure to save his philosophy and his work? Or is it not really important, in the end?
On another note, do you think that the most interesting in The Lord of the Rings is the universe, or Tolkien's philosophy, that it to say the form of the content?
And can a remake reuse the universe of the original work but totally disrespect its original philosophy and meaning?
Shall we regard Shadow of War as an entire separate work? And, finally, couldn't we say that the movies disrespected Tolkien's philosophy as well?
Well feel free to share your opinion and to ask other questions!
