(Disclaimer: Not on adding this but how to add it)
This is just an Idea for how ring forging could work.
Ring Crafting Table
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ring Crafting Tables could be found in Eregion Ruins, and one would be located in Mount Doom. They cannot be Mined or crafted when you attempt to mine it a message will appear: "This is under the protection of an aincent force." You can use it though.
Ring Crafting (RC for short)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside a RC table is a horizontal 6 by 2 line. The bottom three are material, the top three are gems. Materials are: Mithril, gold, iron, silver, and bronze. These decide the durability (How many times you can use it) and each material has perks:
Mithril has high durability but lowers the secondary gem power.
Gold hightens primary gem strength but lowers durability.
Iron is a medium with no perks or cons.
Silver hightens secondary gem power but lower primary gem power.
Bronze hightens both primary and secondary power but lowers durability.
There are three gem slots: The top left is faction, putting Edhelmir here makes it to where you need 1000 with any elven fac to use. Gulduril is the opposite you need 1000 with an orc faction to use. Top middle is primary, this decides what the ability is:
- Amber= Causes lightning to strike a nearby enemy NPC(1rl) strikes 2 nearby enemy NPCs(2rl) Strikes 3 nearby enemy NPCs(3rl)
- Diamond= Resistance(1) level 2 Resistance (2rl) upgrades the resistance of nearby hired units (3rl)
- Coral= floods area (?)
- Durnuar= Gives Fire resistance(1rl) increases length(2rl) and your attacks deal fire(3rl).
- Saphire= speed and jump boost.
- Ruby= strength(1rl) strength 2(2rl) gives strength to nearby hired unit(3rl).
- Obsidian shard= Armor peircing but does 3 less damage(1rl) 2 less damage (2rl) 1 less damage (3rl).
- Edhelmir= gives a light around the player (1rl) increases light radius(2rl) keeps orcs at bay for 5 seconds after use (3rl).
- Emrald= Works as bone meal(1rl) increases radius (2rl) 'Tangles' nearby enemies with roots and roots them in place (3rl)
- Onyx= Invisibility (When pared with obsidian) control of a creature (When pared with emrald) covers the area in fire (Durnuar) Creates a wall of unbreakable material (Diamond) Cannot be paired with edhelmir.
Ring level determines the power of the primary or secondary. Here is an equation for a ring, at first one can only make RL1 rings but as his skill advances can make higher RL rings.
Gold ring= 200D +1 Ppower +0 Spower. AmberP= 0D +1 Ppower +1 Spower. EdhelmirS= 0D +0 Ppower +1 Spower: Total: 200 durability, 2 Ppower, 2 Spower. Ring level equals the amount of both Ppower (Primary power) and Spower (Secondary power) So this ring has a Ring Level of 2. If you had 3P and 2S 3P would round down to match 2P
4 ring level: This is nearly impossible to gain. A new structure type thing in Utumno would spawn, Very Rarely in the Fire Level will you find a large chamber with a bunch of gold and gems, but it is Guarded by either a Werewolf or Dragon(Only if added), the Werewolf would be a huge Warg with great stats. There are 2 chests and there is a 4% chance an Onyx gem will spawn in one. Onyx which gets you 4rl no matter the power of the other crystal. (Idea from Swordsbane) there is also a 1% chance a Balrog will drop Onyx
Top right is secondary, this decides the cooldown length before you can use the ability again. Tell me gem abilities/lengths you can think of.
Crippling
In order to balance the power of the ring if a player uses the ring a couple times (10?) he gets debuffs depending on the RL
slowness(1rl)
slowness and weakness(2rl)
slowness, weakness, and losing 1 heart (3rl)
slowness, weakness, losing a heart and elves attack you on sight no matter the alignment(4rl)
Using a ring after gaining the debuff with temparly fix this.
The only way to solve this is to destroy the ring: Throwing it in lava, this solves it but your strength comes back very slowly. or find The Cradle of life this is a lake hidden in the tauredain islands on the east coast. Swimming in this lake permanantly gets rid of the debuffs, but it is very hard to find as the island with the lake will switch depending on the world (If possible)
Kudos and constructive critiscism is appreciated.
