Berúthiel went back to live in the inland city, and went to the bad (or returned to it she was a Black Númenórean in origin, I guess).
Tolkien In an interview from 1966
From this we can understand that Berúthiel did not come from Umbar but some other Black Númenorean settlement in the south. There might also be Black Númenorean settlements in the far east. As the Númenoreans where seafarers they would settle near the coast and along rivers which led out into the sea. This suggestion is going to focus on the Black Númenoreans of the far south.
For the southern Black Númenoreans i have made this name, Umladan derived from the words Umbar dalad anâ (dalad=under, anâ=men/man).
The Umladan would have a pure blooded high class, a mix blooded middle class and a lower/slave class(people who had no trace of Númenorean blood). The Umladan society would be centered in towns and cities where the middle and high class lives. Out in the rural areas would be the slaves working the farms and tending the cattle with their slave masters, alongside the ocasional estate where some nobility reside on holiday. Villages of mix bloods can also be found where craftsmen reside to provide the necessary tools for the slave farms. Castle and other fortifications can be seen across the landscape.
Buildings:
Estate: These are the holiday homes of the pure blood nobility. They have rooms for the nobles and the servants, a living room(for the nobles), a kitchen, a dining hall, a walled in courtyard, a small stable and a small guard house containing a few Black Guards. They are found rarely across Umladan lands.
Mansion: The city house of the nobles. They house the nobles their servants and a small retinue of Black Guards. Outside the rooms of servants, guards and nobles, they contain a kitchen, a living room(for the nobles) and a dining hall. 1-4 can be found in towns.
Keep: The heart of the Umladan castle. It’s a tower with room for the Commander and his men among them a few Black Guards. 2 wings extend from the base forming on one side the barracks and on the other a small armory and officers quarters. One can only enter through the tower
Smithy: Here the equipment of the Umladan is forged. The Blacksmith resides here. Found in villages and castles
Stables: Here are 8 stalls for horses. The Stable Master resides here. Found in villages and castles.
Tavern: A large 2 storey building with a balcony along the facade with small 2 man tables. On the ground floor is the bar with the Bartender, some tables for customers and a stair leading up to the next floor. Up here one can find some small rooms and the balcony.
Townhouse: Small 2 storey house for the common folk home to a man and a woman. It has a chimney, a table, a double bed and 4 chests. Found in towns
Watchtower: This tower has 3 storeys. The ground floor has beds for the guards. The next have some food and weapons for the men on guard. They are found in the corners of towns, in castles and at times on their own in the open.
House: A small house where a husband and wife lives. It has a chimney, a table, 2 beds and 2 chests. Found in villages.
Farm: a small plot of cultivated land with some Slaves tending it. Found in villages.
Windmill: A mill where the wheat from the farms is made into flour. A Slave Master lives here.
Stall: Stalls contain a trader(blacksmith, baker, fishmonger etc).
Pasture: Is an enclosure with animals.
Town: Towns contain several townhouses, 1-4 Mansions, 4 watchtowers in the corners and 1-2 taverns. With 3-8 market stalls in a dedicated marketplace.
Castle: 1 Keep, 4 watchtowers, 1-2 smithies, 1-2 stables, 4 townhouses, farms and pastures and a wall surrounding it all.
Village: Consist of a mix of houses, smithies, stables, farms, pastures, a tavern and a windmill.
Ancestry and race:
Pure bloods: The purest Númenorean blood is among the nobles, the commanders and the black guard.
Mix bloods: Mix bloods have a part Tauredain part Númenorean ancestry thus they have a darker skin tone than the Númenoreans and lighter than the Tauredain. Their skin tone varies. Their names are either Adûniac, Tauredain or a mix of both.
Slaves: The slaves are of mostly moredain decent and the occasional Tauredain misfit(thieves and other criminals). Therefor they have the darkest skin among the Umladan.
Npc’s:
Umladan: Normal people of mixed blood
Umladan slaves: The Umladan farmhands
Umladan slave warriors: Slaves that has been given whatever weapons and armor(leather iron and bronze) fits and promised freedom when their service is done(if they survive).
Umladan soldier: A mix blood part time soldier. Wearing Umladan weapons and armor.(no mounted variant)
Umladan archer: A mix blood part time soldier. Using a Umladan bow and armor
Umladan marine: A mix blood or pureblood full time soldier. Using Umladan weapons, marine armor and Umladan crossbow.(no mounted variant)
Umladan Black Guard: The absolut elite of the Umladan consisting nearly only of purebloods. Using Umladan weapons and black guard armor.(Has a mounted variant)
Umladan Banner Bearer: A black guard carries the banner.
Equipment: all of this is made on a umladan crafting table
Melee weapons:
The Umladan use swords, hammers, pikes, tridents, daggers, spears and lances. It uses the normal recipes.
Armor:
The Umladan armor is made of bronze and leather in the rohiric pattern, it’s a scale mail with a flat top helm and greaves on the legs. It has a little more durability than normal bronze else the 2 are identical in stats.
The Umladan horse armor is plates with red and gold ornates
The Umladan marine armor is a dark grey chainmail with a red surcoat on which is a golden sword. It’s made in a normal fashion. It has stats like that of the gondorian armor.
The Umladan Black Guard armor is a dark grey plate with red and gold ornaments the helmet has a chainmail veil and flat black wings similar to those of the tower guards. The stats match that of the wood elves and swan knights. It’s made like the marshal armor but with wool instead of leather and iron in the corners. I imagine it looking like this.
Ranged weapons:
The Umladan bow is a recurve bow it’s slightly faster and abit more powerful than a normal bow. It uses the normal recipe.
The Umladan crossbow is a heavy crossbow, it’s a bit more powerful than normal crossbows. It uses the normal recipe.
Banner
The Umladan banner is dark grey with blood red crown in the center. Through crown is a golden sword with the hilt at the upper part of the banner.
Alignment
I think that the Umladan would have a strogn hatred for Sauron and orcs. They would believe that he manipulated them into the fall of Númenor to get them out of his way. They would atleast be neutral maybe even allies of the tauredain and their allies. Hostileties would possibly exists between the Haradrim, Moredain, Limwaith and the Umladan.
This however is up to debate.
Now let me hear your thoughts on the subject.
