<p>This is a fairly simple idea: branding irons, which would be used to name mobs, in a similar fashion to nametags.

</p><p>The resulting tool would have durability of say, 100 uses (Or something like that), and would be used by right-clicking a mob. If the mob is nameable, a text box would appear, in which you can type the creatures name. The Branding Iron would be repairable with iron ingots at an anvil.

<p>Might i suggest that the player right click the iron in a fire before use? If would then cool down after a minute or 2. It would only be usable while hot.

Also, perhaps this would have a limited char count and would actually be branded onto the texture rather than being a floating tag, placement would be flank for most livestock, and wrist or forehead for slaves, and back for spiders. </p><p>I would also advise a minute amount of heat damage, small enough to not be noticeable in 1 branding. </p><p>Finally, some of these brandings should produce unique symbols such as "eye" producing the eye of sauron as seen on mordor spiders, or $$$ producing a coin, perhaps even "mevans", or a short variant producing a lions head. </p>

<p>I would say cut the number of times you could name something down by a lot (AKA, 10-15ish). 100 seems way too over-powered.

<p>something in the mod that uses inventory timers are the weapon cool down, each tick the game will check fuctions, when you attack, it will activate the timer, the game will set the timer to go down by 1 every tick until it gets to 0, then it will allow you to click again, same thing with the branding iron, the game will check for the when you click on fire, then it will activate a timer for how long you could use it, and then when the timer goes down to 0, make it a unusable item, all simple code </p>
