Pelargir Marines. One of thr best looking fiefdoms and some of thr best looking armored troops, yet, alas, for theh are also quite dull, not very logical, and are in great need of some balancing. What do I think would solve these problems? Well many things to completely help it, but one major thing. I believe that the Marines of Pelargir, like the Corsairs of Umbar, should wield bows as a secondary weapon with their melee weapons.
As I mentioned, I believe they are fairly dull. Why? Its simple: they may as well be reskined Gondorian Soldiers, only with less weapon options, no cavalry, and no archers. every other fief brings something new, or at least a more complete roster. Hillmen, Knights of Pinnath Gelin, Swan Knights, Rangers, Axemen, Archers of the Blackroot vale, all good and interesting features, with pretty complete rosters to back those features. Pelargir, on the other hand, has Marines, Banner Bearers, and Levymen. No archers, and understandably no cavalry.
Lore accuracy is another point to be made here. In lore, and in common sense, marines use bows (and javelins but that is for another day) to combat enemies on other ships. The corsairs of Umbar have this down, but the marines clearly do not. The Marines are basically a better version or corsairs as well.
As aforementioned, they are supposed to be better corsairs. Also, an army with no archers is incredibly vulneraboe to skirmish tactics. They need to be able to win fights against armies with archers, and definitely corsairs.
Now, I'm sure this has been suggested before. But eith thr addition of the corsairs, I believe now is the timr to act.
Thanks for reading, and please do kudos if you agree.
