So, there I was, with an army of archers, planning on mowing down my enemies with volleys of arrows. I directed my units to all fire upon a single enemy soldier, and as they did I expected it to be practically a 1 shot kill. But alas...
I think it is pretty dumb that when a volley of arrows is fired at a single target mob, only a single arrow actually hits it, and the rest bounce off. In the scenario above, the target mob only had 20 hp, and my army fired a volley of at least 20 arrows at it. Now normally, each arrow would do about 3 hp of damage, so that mob should have been dead before all the arrows had reached it. But nope, only one arrow hit, and only did 3 hp of damage. after another 4-5 volleys it was finally down.
My suggestion: Make every arrow in a volley do damage. It makes no sense that only 1 arrow does damage, and the rest magically deflect. The way it is currently, it makes multiple archers useless against a single target, since they only do the damage of a sole archer.
I imagine that there would be a way to disable whatever code prevents NPCs from taking damage while taking damage... as in by getting hit by multiple entities at the same time. It wouldn't just affect projectiles, but melee as well, by allowing mobs to be hit by multiple enemies simultaneously.
This would make combat much more realistic, with greater numbers making an army stronger by being able to deal more damage as a group. Oh, and of course making archers no longer be completely useless.
