My reasons for this change:
- So that on a server you can't get yams, dates and blueberries from someone and grow them in your garden in Rohan and forget about those places.
-Adds more depth to new areas, not only are the people and structures unique but also the crops.
-Roleplaying as a crops trader is viable now. Why buy oranges from a Harad player or grapes from a Dorwinion player when you can just farm everything at home? You can be a mahogany timber trader who lives in the south and trades for weapons from gondor players.
-Realism, as shown above; orange trees in Forodwaith look silly.
-This has been somewhat implemented in ores, mithril is only found in the misty mountains, lapis only in Harad. So why not do the same for crops and trees?
-Penalties for living far away. You can't grab a sapling and seed of everything then go build far to the south or north. You will be forced to venture out to collect more supplies. If you camp misty mountains you will lose access to certain stuff unless someone brings you it.
How can this be implemented?
Crops and trees can be divided up into groups. For example: desert, temperate, broad, Jungle only etc and the corresponding biomes are linked to these groups. Some crops grow almost everywhere and others only in one biome.
I know my title is boring and my suggestion isn't flashy or cool like a new faction or weapon or ring forging idea but I feel like it's the little tweaks like these that add depth to the game and make this mod a competely new game and not just minecraft.
Please Kudos if you like it.
