I don't know what you mean by ego stroking, I was just interested to see what you guys would say. Guess I forgot that this is a LotR themed place XD
I also asked it here because I didn't get anything on Quora.
Movies vs Series.
Wins as in who's stronger.
People have their own opinions I'm sure. Some people here must like GoT enough to vote for it? Idk. I asked this question while I was ticked off at someone saying GoT would win mainly because of Population.
Lotr wins obviously

I would assume you didn't get a lot of answers because GoT and LOTR are in their essence fundamentally different works, there were few elements of fantasy in GoT and the series stripped away even those to bare minimum, at this point it is more or less historical drama set in a fictional world and the ending left a bad taste in many people's mouths so GoT does not have many fans anymore eithewr way. LOTR on the other hand is made of fantasy, it invented all the tropes for it. Comparing the two is always going to be subjective.
Ye, DEBATE. DEBATE wins.
To be completely honest, I was really Hoping for cool descriptions of battle (shrugs).
There is much more to wars then battles alone, not only that but rules in LOTR are somewhat different, the way LOTR works is there are powerful beings, like Gandalf, or Fingolfin, or Galadriel, or Sauron for that matter, that can swing the direction of the battle all by themselves, in a more realistic battle like in GoT that can practically never happen(unless you count generals, but one individual can't swing a battle with his sheer power). There is also the question of dragons, one would think dragons would give GoT serious advantage, but it's not like LOTR hasn't faced dragons before, and came up on top, and bigger and more powerful then those in GoT, heck Ancalagon the Black was as mig as a mountain and he still went down. There are just different rules in this universes.
The battle tactics in GoT could litertally be improved by ur average 8 yr old.
Mordor would basically bum rush any faction in westeros. The only reason the west triumphs against sauron is basically plot armour.
Having three dragons is the only thing that could possibly save westeros, but as seen in the show and esgaroth, pointy sticks, flung at great velocities have a tendency to kill dragons.
Also... winterfell... "we have a city with walls and towers! Lets put the majority of our armies outside the walls!" -Ramsey Bolton & Jon Snow/Daenarys Targaryen
I am a firm believer in the idea that the Lord Of The Rings and its related works being the pinnacle of fantasy works, far surpassing anything that has come after it (except for perhaps, of course, the Chronicles of Narnia).
GoT in my eyes is a story of murder, war, rape, and dishonesty, with little subtlety and a lack in powerfully moving characters. Frodo's journey to Mt. Doom is remembered as a powerful final act of sacrifice, but yet I don't ever remember a character in GoT ever sacrificing much of anything for the common good and not wanting to get something out of it.
You can discern my vote easily from this.
Thanks.
