I really like the general idea behind this, but I wonder if stripping the log is the best approach. Actual sap harvesting to make maple syrup involves a longer process of tapping the tree. Maybe there could be a new item that works in a similar way to a behive, which you can place on a maple log. After a while (maybe time similar to pumpkins/melons growing?) it gets to the point where it visibly drips sap (like the behive with honey). At this point, you could right click the tap with your bowl to collect the syrup. This way, it is a bit slower, but doesn't use up the log. Plus, it is more realistic!

Or when u strip a maple log with an axe it gives u some syrup or something else u use to craft syrup and some bark which could be used to make bark armour

When u strip a log with an axe it should give u some bark (to make bark armour) and some maple sap which then u must heat up in a furnace or leave in the sun to get Maple syrup or when u strip a log with an axe it drops only bark which I then extract the sap from or after the log is stripped it slowly fills up with sap till sap particles appear on the stripped log and u can use a bowl to take the sap and then u put the bowl of sap in a furnace or place it in the sun which turns it into syrup.
