Hi, I’ve recently set up a server with the mod, but it seems NPC’s don’t generate naturally in the open, only within generated structures. I don’t understand why since the wildlife associated with the mod generates in just fine. Is there anything I could be missing in the set up? Or anything I could do to fix this?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm going to tell you a funny story.
I played on renewed recently and I fought among the rohirrim against uruk-hai and dunlending at the border between Rohan and Nan Curunir. To add a bit of fun I spawned a bunch of Gondor warriors and lindon warriors to represent some allies.
And here is what happened:
A lindon warrior began to aim a rohirrim somehow (logical in some way because high elves and rohirrim are neutral but not so logical either because arrows pass through to body of ally, friend and neutral NPCs so nothing justified it). He, like, sniped the rohirrim, and gondorians nearby jumped on the pointy-eared to kill him (I saw something similar when dunlendings killed uruk-hai of Sharkey because they slain some dwarves.).
Then, I saw the thing I still laugh from. After the elf dead, gondorians nearby killed the gondorian who has given the last blow to the elf (because he slain an elf and high elves are friends of gondor). Then I've had a domino effect where gondorians began to slay each other because... they just killed each other, a bit like orcs when they scuffle.
That was very weird and mostly funny to experiment and wished to share it with some people.
Some will see a bug to fix in this. But I don't know if we can really consider it like a bug. Because it's just a NPC behaviour trick caused by the entangling of several codes willed by Mevans.
Anyway, I'm curious to read your reaction.
Oh. And I almost forgot! New wargs are superb in looking and fight system. It was very entertaining to fight them. Thank you Mevans for this wonderful work and mod!

I just played LOTR mod renewed, and spoke to a hobbit. The hobbit said: "Conditional Speechbank Engine: Coming to a mod near you!". This got my mind thinking, does this mean the normal "Good", "Neutral" and "Evil" speechbank libraries, or is it a teaser for a new, improved speechbank system, that might take into account other things when calculating what the Hobbit will say? Maybe it will check not only the player's alignment with the NPC:s faction, but also what biome the NPC is in, if there are enemies of that NPC:s faction nearby, and even more? Probably not, but what if...
on my multiplayer server. when someone buys units or farmers, etc. they do not see their lives. and they can't open their menu to change armor. stand still. or set up farming at the farmer.
How can i fix it ?

<p>I know your troops stand guard at night, but what if you could let them sleep? I find it creepy that normal, non-troops npcs just stand there at night. wouldn't it make more sence for the hobbits and people of gondor to SLEEP??? You could even assign you troops to sleep at night as well.

</p><p>Every civilian NPC (yes, including elves) should now run from you when you have -500 alignment with their faction. Also, they should flee from elite units (uruks, tower guards, golden easterlings...) of enemy factions.
As a (off-topic?) sidenote, no more hiring civilian units from warlord NPC-s.
</p><p>The current way of orcs fleeing makes them ridiculous in most cases, so I suggest, bring up the alignment requirement for them to flee from -500 to -1000. Also, orcish banner bearers & orc bombardiers should count as "stronger allies" & never flee themselves. Orcs would also attack if there are 10 or more of them in their attack radius.
</p><p>Hobbit shiriffs are even more ridiculous than orcs. Going after a dark lord with a slingshot? At -500 alignment, shiriff raids would no longer occur and any existing shiriffs will also flee. Maybe they could be be replaced by ranger attacks that work with the same function, but that would go way too off-topic.

<p>My suggestion is simple. When an NPC gets set on fire, they run around and panic until the fire is put out. This way its more realistic than them trying to charge even as their body is alight.
</p><p>Of course, for certain enemies (Huorns, Ents, Olog Hai, Uruk Hai, exploding enemies), this should not happen and their AI should function as normal.

<p>While in lore, it was only hinted at that snakes existed in the Haradwaith. However, the Southrons must have had at least one encounter with them, otherwise their banner would not make sense...
</p><p>Currently, if you are traveling through the Great Desert, you will find some camels, a LOT of Scorpions, and some scattered Southron outposts. Seeing other creatures spawning here would be very nice, especially creatures that can survive in the harsh conditions of the Deserts. Snakes are such animal capable of surviving everywhere.
</p><p>As the new update (Beta 34) will primarily focus on the revamping of the Haradwaith, adding snakes to them would make a nice addition. Currently, I have worked out several types that can spawn. Most of these are Neutral, unless stated otherwise.
</p><p><i>NPC:</i>
</p><p>Tiny Snake (<i>Based on the Adder/Viper</i>): just as small as a Silverfish, does only one damage per hit, and is generally a weak enemy that is only a nuisance, as it is VERY fast, as it can keep up with a sprint-jumping player. Can occur not only in the Harad, but also in other areas of Arda. Has 4 health, making it a one-hit-kill for most weapons.
</p><p>Small Snake (<i>Based on the Water Snakes</i>): roughly the size of a Small Scorpion, deals 3 damage per hit, and can travel over water, therefore spawning in any area that is "watery" enough, including marches. Is slightly slower than the Tiny version, as it can barely keep up with a sprinting player. Has 6 health, making it slightly more dangerous, yet still easy to defeat.
</p><p>Medium Snake (<i>Based on the Cobra</i>): while normally the size of a medium scorpion, it can raise its head as a warning against other players. This snake attacks everything that comes within a 5 block radius, and deals 5 damage per hit, as well as giving poison for 3 seconds. The speed is far slower, only slightly faster than a player walking. It has 10 health, making it a reasonable enemy.
</p><p>Large Snake (<i>Based on the Mamba</i>): Mostly long than "large", this snake can also raise its head as a warning, but has no poison. Instead, if can go in a small sprint for 2 seconds, catching up with anyone foolish enough to come near it. Every bite does 7 damage, making it a rather dangerous enemy. With 14 health, this snake is not to be messed with, but comes at the expense of being a rare sighting.
</p><p>(Non-canon alert, this may anger a lot of people!)
</p><p>King's Serpent (<i>Based on the snake shown in the Banner of Harad</i>): Extremely rare, only found a couple of times in the Harad Fertile Biome, this Serpent is a threat to all enemies of Harad. The Haradrim themselves are fairly save from these monstrous Serpents, as they refuse to attack anyone with 200+ Alignment with the Southrons or higher (but still attack when hit). They can also be hired from Southron Captains for 500+ Alignment and 200 Silver coins. They have 16 health, and deal 10 damage per hit, but at the expense of being VERY slow, barely beating a normal walking player.
</p><p><i>Items:</i>
Snakepot: the Rhúnics have the firepot... Now the Haradrim have the Snakepots. It can be filled up to the Medium Snake, and can either be placed on the ground (like a birdcage) or be thrown, releasing the snake up to its enemies.
</p><p><i>Blocks:</i>
</p><p>Snaketrap: looks may be deceiving. While it uses the exact same textures of a Tauredian Dart Trap, it is actually filled with a Snakepot! Crafted using a darttrap and a filled pot, these little traps can end up easily killing someone... Even more when they do not know that a Cobra is biting them in the rear.
</p><p><i>Gameplay:</i>
</p><p>(With thanks to Grievous!) Of course, Snakes need to be tamed. As only the Southrons know how to handle the fangs, one may only tame a tiny snake when they are at 50+ alignment with Near Harad, the small one need 75+ and the Medium 100+. The taming goes as following: first, you need to catch the snake using a snakepot. When you have caught the snake, you need the appropriate alignment to be able to tame them, otherwise, when you decide to release them, they will turn right back at you. When in a pot, the snakes can be fed Cacti (finally a use next to traps and dye!). A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 Cacti blocks are necessary to tame the Snake. Once you have tamed it (of course, the classic "hearts" will come out), the snake works just like a regular troop, but is better used as a quick hit-'n-run unit, very useful to players liking to pick others off.
</p><p>I had this idea for a while, and decided to expand it a bit, as the new update comes closer and this would make a <i>fine addition to this collection</i>.

</p> <h3><span class="mw-headline" id="Alternative_options"> Alternative options </span></h3> <p>1) As equally effective alternative, you could consider to create a special block that only generates in the Barrow-downs, which is not renewable or relocatable by players and that is the precondition for Barrow-wights to spawn on, as proposed by Direranger50 in this post. </p><p>2) Another alternative would be to change the spawning mechanics of all NPCs and make them recognize player made grinders. That would be quite a different approach and is beyond the scope of this proposal, so I prefer to not go into any further detail on that option here. </p><p>3) A third alternative was suggested by Drago and concerns making wights immune to fall damage. This would of course effective to counter grinders that rely on spawned entities to fall of high platforms and die, but will not be effective in other types of grinders, where players can hit and grind trapped NPCs without them hitting the player. As this change would be justifiable for reason of wights being able to hover, this change may be considered regardless the anti-grinding purpose of this thread. </p><p>

<p>Firstly, as you know, some of the mod's blocks have an inventory sprite item and a 3D model when placed. For an example, look at the Goblet page or Ale Horn page. If you look at the Vanilla MC wiki (hey, who remembers that game?), you will see that the inventory sprite is a small inset image with the 3D model being the main infobox image. That is my personal preference, but I would like to know your own opinions. Please vote in the poll below, and say anything else in the comments.
