From this point forward, all suggestions for the 1.15 port of the mod will be summarily removed. The Mod Renewed will likely be in the basic stages of development for quite some time, and suggestions are really, really not helpful for this process.
I was working on my pack, Immersion, when I suddenly realized that I could fix one of my main qualms with lotr mod visuals: The beautifully ugly moon.
I erased the white ring, so that we can see real crescent and new moons (or not see, in the case of the new moon). Originally i was thinking of implementing it into Immersion, but then I figured I might as well just make a new pack altogether.
Hopefully you appreciate this look as much as I do. Let me know what you think in the comments!
- Quin
Edit: Here's a screenshot of a waning crescent, also posted on the Resource Packs page, where the download can also be found:
And here's the actual texture file (so, full moon cycle):
Good afternoon, fine subjects of this glorious Wiktatorship,
I don't know if it's been appearing for all users, but I have been informed that Wikia will be removing thread highlighting in the forums starting tomorrow. This is part of a greater shift on their part from the forum system to Discussions, which by default has an announcement section to notify users through. The wiki staff has decided to not use this announcement section - we still feel that Discussions is still lacking in many things that we would like to see in a forum system, and we will still not be using Discussions in any way, shape, or form. Instead, any or all announcements will be shifted to the announcements section on the wiki discord, which henceforth will be marked as for the wiki, the discord, or both. Thank you for your time, and keep editing.
It is my eternal pleasure to announce that, at long last, after a loss of hope across the community....
That Star Wars: The Clone Wars is slated to return!
This is NOT a joke! I do believe the trailer's still trending on Youtube - go watch it. I know this isn't mod related, but as this was a beloved part of many childhoods here, I just wanted to spread the word, and would like to invite everyone to join the rest of the wiki discord community in hype, speculation, and even a bit of betting in two new dedicated channels. #CloneWarsSaved
Hello LOTRmodded server owners, staff and players,
The PvP Mode mod is a serverside utility mod created to mitigate the risks / negative consequences of undesired PvP combat while also supporting the immersive experience of players who desire to engage in PvP combat. The mod has a range of features all related to combat by players and hired units.
All relevant info on the mod is presented on this dedicated wiki page: PvP Mode mod.
We use this thread for public announcements and discussion on (future) features and versions of the mod.
Over the past 1-2 years, we've had a huge increase in the number of templates that we use in our pages in order to present content. For example, the Template:Grid pages, which are used to display crafting grids. Also the Template:Bar category of pages, which are used to show numbers of hearts, meats, or coins.
These templates significantly improve the quality of our wiki pages. They make them look more professional, and tend to make it easier to keep these pages accurate. However, they add a certain amount of complexity to pages that may be intimidating or difficult to understand for many users. Many of these templates have a /doc sub-page that explains how to use the template. For the most part, this documentation was written with the templates themselves, and is very good.
However, it is not clear to many users how to read this documentation or how to understand how to edit. In a lot of cases, it's not clear to many that these docs even exist. We've been talking about how to address this issue in discord, and we've come up with a few ideas:
Edit the Wiki Style Guide to include more information about wiki programming.
An alternative to #1 could be to create more subpages of Help and put documentation there (similar to Help/Wiki Code, see below).
Create a category with general documentation information, also containing the category for template documentation.
In addition to #3, create a Doc: namespace which would be used to separate documentation from the wiki with actual content.
Currently the documentation is basically the Help/Wiki Code, which explains the basic mediawiki markup, but not some of the more complicated parts of the platform.
As per those options, I would see #1 as being mutually exclusive of #3 and #4, and #2 being mutually exclusive of #4.
People of the Wiki and mod community, I have an announcement directly from Mevans himself. Undoubtedly, most of you have noticed that work on the mod has slowed recently, and there have been fears that the mod is dead. It isn’t, but it is true that Mevans is slowing down this project in favor of another: a Bionicle submod for the Lord of the Rings Mod for Minecraft.
Yes, development on the LOTR Mod is going to slow in favor of a mod for the mod, which will recast Middle-Earth as the Island of Mata Nui and bring all our favorite Bionicle characters into the game (because everyone has a favorite, and if you don’t know what Bionicle is you didn’t have a childhood.) The contents of the first sub-update, and details on exciting new features like Mask Forging, Rahi, and the Bohrok will soon be forthcoming. Until then, get the hype train started!
Though this may come as a slight disappointment to some, undoubtedly this is outweighed by the excitement for the new submod, which will bring an incredibly expansive universe to the game. As a result of this change, the wiki will change as well. Though we’re still working on the technical aspects, this is now a wiki for the Bionicle Mod: Bringing Mata Nui to Middle-Earth to Minecraft. Expect more exciting new announcements soon!
Greetings, servants of the Wiktatorship! I have some exciting news.
This wiki now has a Discord server! There are links on the main page and of course further down in this message, as well as in all future welcome messages. Discord offers an excellent opportunity to coordinate and generally hang out as a community, and features channels for... well, just about everything. It's still a bit under construction, but for the most part we have on our hands a fully operational battlestation!
The wiki staff has had a significant discussion regarding the naming of resource pack (thank you, QuinoaFalafel, for starting this discussion) and server pages. The major opinions put forward there were:
In that discussion, we came to the conclusion that server pages aren't fundamentally different in terms of their content from resource packs, and have decided to deal with them the same way.
In the end, the staff agreed on making resource pack, music pack, and server pages sub-pages of the main Resource Packs/Servers/Music Packs page. If you don't know how to create a sub-page, you simply call it "Resource Packs/Your Pack Name" when you hit "create a page".
Why did we do this?
Servers, resource packs, and music packs aren't really part of the mod, and the mod team has no direct involvement in their creation/management (except for the official server).
It creates a lot of clutter when searching for pages. We have around 60 server pages right now.
It could cause naming conflicts when features are added (i.e. a server named the One Ring might have occupied the namespace of the One Ring item, if and when it's added).
If players want to find servers/resource packs/music packs, they can simply go to the appropriate page, and find what they're looking for there.
All existing server and resource pack pages will be moved to become sub-pages of their respective topics. Custom music packs will be treated in the same way. When you move pages to sub-pages, leave the old page there as a redirect as otherwise there will be a lot of dead links throughout the wiki to take care of. Here's an example for Isildur's Bane Server.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone that individual pages should only be created for the mod's main features (blocks, items, structures, gameplay mechanics, regions, etc.), and for third-party content officially endorsed by the mod team (i.e. Joetater, NEI Plugin). Fan-made creations that are not sub-mods are allowed as sub-pages of their respective topic, or, if it's something entirely personal, sub-pages of your user page.
yeah yeah yeah, i know this comment is a day late, but just so you know, JRR tolkien, the guy who made the lord of the rings and therefore provided the inspiration for this mod, his birthday was september the third! so happy birthday tolkien! (even though he is kinda dead)
I've receieved word from Mevans that the mod team member who told me to post this said the wrong thing. Submods that don't have permission will be banned and receive such treatment. Those that have it are fine. The rest of the message has been updated.]
As may already have come to your attention, the mod team has asked the wiki staff to deliver a clear message from Mevans to all of you: from this point forward, there is to be no submodding of the main mod code, if explicit permission is not granted by Mevans.
Why? For several reasons. Mainly, submodders are doing this without permission from Mevans. He wants to know what his work will be used for, and doesn't want it being changed without his knowledge. Two, it's generally disrespectful to the work of the mod author. Think about it - modding the mod is basically saying that Mevans' work is not good enough. Furthermore, people have been using submods to add things that are planned, giving people a false impression of what they will be like and, worst of all, making them think it or the lore with it is part of the actual mod.
What does this mean? It means that all unpermitted submodders should stop creating their content immediately. How this will affect unapproved servers based around mods in unknown - but be prepared to shut them down.
And what will we, the wiki staff, do about it? The answer is simple: we will not tolerate anything that has not been granted permission by Mevans. If you continue production on an unpermitted submod and continue to post download links, we will remove all content related to it from the wiki and ban the distributors for a very long time. The same goes if we find you doing this on another wiki or making your own wiki based on this, or posting on other mediums. Obviously we can do nothing about personal submods, but please have some respect.
Remember, this is Mevans' decision - I am but a messenger. That means please do not waste your time trying to argue with me or any of the other wiki staff on this issue. We have no control over it, but we will not hesitate to ban over it.
Apologies for the mixup around whether or not formerly permitted submods would be allowed to continue. Merry Christmas.
Alright, there are a lot of Star Wars fans on this wiki (I, of course, am one of them), and as we all know Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi comes out in roughly twenty-six hours. Many of us will be going to see it in the near future and, naturally, do not want the movie spoiled.
So, believe me when I say this to you: I will have absolutely no remorse in dealing out bans harsh enough to make Stalin squirm to anyone who does not heed this warning and posts a spoiler anywhere on this wiki before 1/15/18, NO EXCEPTIONS. Understood? Yes? Good. I would hate for something Grievous to have to happen to you.
This is merely a question guys, as I dont have facebook (I am very reserved with my life and I dont like to post everything I do) I was wondering if there is any information about the release date of beta 34.
Edit: Let's all drink for this glorious moment my brothers.
Hello Everyone, some of you may know that I have been creating a Map called The East however I have changed this to Rhovanion since I will no longer be doing Rhunic Builds. For thos who don't know Rhovanion will consist of Minor places in Rhovanion many people neglect to build. I have always wanted to make maps, and have now found a way to Make my maps!
I hope to have Beta 1 out by the end of the week. Here is a list of what you can expect in the course of my Map. * Means this build is from my character or another character's lore.
Beta 1- Beorn's Hall, Old Ford, Redwater Ford, Running Ford, Forest Gate, Beowulf's Estate*, Three Hill pass*,
Beta 2- Framsburg, Ruined Northman cities(2?), Bardhaven, Several Balcoth Encampments(3?),
Beta 3- Rhosgobel, Sir Lazuli's ruined Potato farm*, Several orcish outposts, Dalish Crossroads
Beta 4- Several Dalish Forts, Several Wood-Elven Outposts, Several Beorning Villages/Forts, Several Wood-men Villages/Forts.
Bet 5- If done you can expect Dorwinion builds,
I Hope all of you who download my map enjoy playing on it! If enough of you like my map and want to see more I'll make another.
Also I would like to give thanks to Grievous for telling me how to get the map out for Download and Ithilion for Helping me make my Builds as Lore abiding as possible!
Here are some samples of some of my builds for Beta 1
Also if I do make another map it will be on this same world, that way if someone wanted not only Rhovanion but also say a map Rohan they could simply download the Beta that has both of these. And if you just want Rhovanion but not Rohan your out of luck..

I just made a small edit to the Template:Portal page, which controls the main image links on the mainpage. I changed the Background color to better reflect the background that I see from the other templates on the mainpage.
To be honest, they looked fine before an Opera update earlier today, but they changed something the the CSS renderer that fixed some issues, which of course broke something for me. I'll be doing some work over the next few days to get the mainpage standardized. Here is a shot of the mainpage under FF 57:
And under Opera:
I'd like to ask the community's opinion on which looks better. I like the Opera one much better, but I'm willing to revert my edits if enough people don't like my change. I will update the rest of the white backgrounds and fix all that if we decide we like the Opera look better.
Please respond to the poll at the end of #6, that is more up-to-date.
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

This wiki has been an adventure. It really has. Each and every one of you has made this one of the best communities I have ever had the luck to be a part of, and I don’t regret any of it. Unfortunately, Junior year of highschool has a way of consuming all aspects of one’s life, and this wiki is a distraction. A good distraction, but a distraction still. Furthermore, I’ve been feeling a bit of guilt. Being an “active” moderator is a responsibility, one that (at least in my mind) I haven’t been able to properly keep up with. And so I have decided to leave, for now. This was not an easy choice to make, but I think it was necessary. This is not to say that this is the last you’ll ever hear of me. I’ll probably be able to pop on every now and then.
But Catfishperson, whoever will inherit your modship?
Yes, I’ve thought about that, and the user with the comment that has the least kudos on the day that beta 34 is released will be promoted to moderator as my successor (in true Shireposting fashion, because, let’s be honest, this is a Shirepost.)
Well, I guess this is it. I have nothing left to say. *slips on ring of power*
