Arak is a popular drink in Near Harad. It is brewed on the basis of dates, which can be found on date palms and in chests in most Near Harad structures. It can be drunk to restore your hunger bar, but it also gives the Nausea effect.
Brewing[]
Arak can be brewed in a barrel with dates and water buckets. It may be brewed in five steps, the first producing weak Arak, then, in ascending order, light, moderate, strong, and potent Arak.
Obtaining[]
It is possible to buy Arak from the various bartenders and brewers of Near Harad, who can be found in taverns or market stalls. Barrels of Arak also spawn in taverns, and vessels of Arak normally spawn in houses.
Effects[]
A mug of Arak fills up the player's hunger bar partly when drunk, but also gives them the Nausea effect. Both hunger bonus and duration of the Nausea effect depend upon the drink's potency (and, of course, the player's alcohol tolerance).
Potency | Alcoholicity | Hunger Restored | Saturation |
---|---|---|---|
Weak | 3.5% | .8 | |
Light | 7% | 1.8 | |
Moderate | 14% | 3.2 | |
Strong | 28% | 5 | |
Potent | 42% | 6 |
Trivia[]
Arak in the mod was originally spelled "araq", a direct transliteration of the Arabic name for the drink. This was changed in Update 34 as the Haradrim underwent an overhaul, part of which included removing some of their more explicitly Arabic influences within the mod.
