Some of the content in this suggestion is based on content from one of my earlier suggestions. Also,Gorbag mentioned many of the Hillman ideas in a comment on his Remains of Arnor suggestion, so kudos to him.
Introduction
Angmar, one of the evil factions, is composed of highly weak orcs, wargs, trolls and mountain trolls. It has one boss, “The Mountain Troll Chieftain, and one subfaction, the hillmen of Rhudaur, which in itself is composed of incredibly weak men. This suggestion is divided into two parts, improvements on the Rhudaur hillmen, and improvements on trolls.
Of the Rhudaur Hillmen
The Rhudaur hillmen are incredibly weak at the moment. Despite the fact that hillmen warriors were intended as a replacement for Angmar orc Warriors (R.I.P) and yield two alignment when slain, they are generally actually less powerful than normal Angmar orcs, due to their incredibly weak armour. Normal, non-warrior hillmen (men of Numenor) can be slain by hobbit sheriffs in one-on-one combat, and yet, these unarmoured, presumably untrained civilians seem to make up the backbone of Rhudaur’s military power, spawning much more commonly than warriors both in invasion and naturally. Yes, unlike every other faction (besides half trolls, who are actually savages, and decently powerful) the Rhudaur hillmen actually use civilians in invasion. They also have the least content of any faction or subfaction, so there is literally no reason to play as them! The fact that these men of Numenor get absolutely slaughtered by every other faction in the mod is ridiculous. Now that I am done with my rant, here is what I suggest is done.
1.Remove hillmen civilians from invasions. No faction, in Middle Earth or otherwise would send unarmoured men with wooden axes (base damage of 3) against elven warriors or rangers.
2.Add Hillwomen. Females are as necessary for any faction as males after all...
3.Add a Hillmen champion helmet, crafted from orcsteel and bones on an Angmar crafting table, it would give iron level protection. (If any of those more talented in the texture department wanted to whip up a texture, I'd be happy to display it under your name.)
4.Add Rhudaur hillmen champions. They would wear full Angmar armour, but with a hillmen champion helmet. They would wield angmar weapons and have 25 23 health.
5. Remove Hillmen warg riders. Tbh, these are pretty unlikely…
6.Add Hillmen butchers. Just for the sake of content. These would sometimes spawn in hillmen villages. They would probably have animals in cages. (If any of those more talented in the building department wanted to build one, I would happily post screenshots under their name.) The butchers obviously sell meat. 7.New title: ¨Hillwomen¨
8. Hillmem clubs, crafted with three wood planks in a column. This would do 6 damage, have a 100% swing speed, 100% range and +1 knock-back.
Trolls
Trolls and Mountain trolls are currently considered to be part of the Angmar faction and are hired from Angmar orc chieftains. They do not invade with Angmar however. Here are would I think to be some possible improvements.
1.Make trolls a whole subfaction of Angmar. When you think about it, trolls weren't ¨part¨ of Angmar.
2.Possibly troll crafting tables? Not so sure about this one, as I can´t think of very many items that they would use. Obviously more troll crafting tables, banners, and troll cauldrons (see 3.), possibly troll clubs and other trollish weapons (if added.) Still doesn't seem like a lot…
3.Troll cauldrons, these would be crafted with iron and wood. They would look a little like unsmeltries, but be 2 by 2 blocks and cruder. They would function somewhat similarly to Hobbit ovens, in that they could be used to cook more than 1 food item at a time (probably only 3 or so…) In addition to a fuel slot, they would have a water slot. Both would need to be full for the cauldron to function. The cauldron would have a swinging animation when in use, similarly again the the unsmeltry. Using this would earn the achievement ¨mutton today, mutton yesterday, and blimey if it ain't mutton tomorrow.¨
4.Troll camps should spawn throughout Angmar, the Ettenmoors, The coldfells, the Misty Mountain foothills, the trollshaws and the Lone Lands. As seen in ¨The Hobbit, they would essentially be a trollish campfire with a few chests, a troll cauldron, a troll chieftain, and a troll respawner.
5.Troll chieftains. These would be somewhat larger trolls, holding a coin in there non-weapon hand. They would wear unobtainable troll armour. It would be these that sell evil players trolls and mountain trolls, rather than Angmar orc chieftains. These would not turn to stone in the day.
6.Troll mini-quests. Trolls are semi-intelligent beings, they should give quests. These would be anything from ¨Fetch me 16 cooked mutton¨ to ¨slay 12 Burrahobbits.¨
7.Troll invasions. As it is, trolls don't ever invade, not even with Angmar (not that they should, again Angmar didn't really ¨own¨ the Trolls.) Sooo, they should get their own invasions in all the biomes that troll camps spawn. When I first suggested this, Lord Dain the Awesome suggested ¨troll raids¨ (like hobbit Sheriff raids) instead. I like this a fair amount better, as it is hard to imagine trolls planning, collaborating, and executing organized invasions, not to mention the fact that they would be highly overpowered.
All done
Well that's it for now, by all means, feel free to tell me that I'm wrong about something. Or if you want to add or improve on something I said, please that too, I might add it (of course under your name.)
