Northmen are underpowered because of balance. The armour of Rohan are made of iron but worth only bronze levels. In the Greater Rohan, Isengard are received uncanonical and overpowered crossbowers and berserkers, and Dunlendings are received berserkers, too, but Rohan have terrible equipment and armours. Please tell me, how could this be a little bit balance? Without high valves of Uruk-hai equipment, who will ever like those foul-mouthed Isengarders in both the mod and the book?
Not only the Northmen but also Ents are underpowered. In the lore, arrows are no use against Ents. They cannot be poisoned. They have a variety of appearances:chestnut, fir (the tallest Ents), ash, birch, rowan, and linden. What I asked Mevans himself, he said that not all of features of ordinary Ents will be added, and some features will be introduced on bosses. Then, he added Mallorn Ents. It isn't that people ruin the fun of things for the sake of being uncanon and an unbalanced balance?
Rohirrim cavalry are fast to the point where a horde of them is nearly invincible. Mallorn Ents were added to balance the concept of a boss, so that there is one for both sides.
Gundabad Wargs now run faster than other Wargs, which are equally matched to Rohirrim horses. However, they (or you) still got a unmounted elite unit. Besides, Gundabad Orc Riders run as fast as Rohirrim cavalry, and both riders and mounts could make attacks. Moreover, you can use the same amount of coins of a horde of Rohirrim cavalry to buy a bunch of Gundabad Uruks to fight a horde of Rohirrim cavalry, and you will always win.
