A lot of people (including myself) have complained about the difficulty of finding Traveling Merchants after they've spawned, so I've thought of a solution: a Minimap.
It would be a small version of the menu map (which means it wouldn't show terrain, only biomes) that is centered on your player head, and would show little icons for certain NPCs that allow you to find them better. For example: Red Book icons for people with ongoing Miniquests, Coin icons for merchants (traveling and non-traveling) and slavers, Sword icons for hiring/hired units like captains, shieldmaidens, renegades, and mercenaries, Exclamation Mark icons for NPCs with Miniquests that haven't been taken yet, and Saddle icons for player-tamed mounts. The Minimap would also show Waypoint Markers Roads, and Invasions, and would be able to be zoomed in and out (but not as far out as the menu map can).
Edit: As suggested by TiCFe, the map would be an item crafted like a normal map but with a Gold Ring in the center instead of a compass and zooming in and out would be done by right-clicking the item while holding it. I like this much more than the old idea, as it helps with the medieval feel of the mod.
This would solve a problem I tend to encounter a lot while playing, constantly losing or just not seeing certain NPCs. The Minimap would help to find ultra rare Gondorian Renegades and finally give us an answer to the problem of finding Traveling Merchants. The only problem I really see with the idea is how hard it would be to code compared to other things, but it would absolutely be worth it. Let me know what you think.
