"O demon dark, O phantom vile of foulness wrought of lies and guile, here shalt thou die, thy spirit roam, quacking back to masters home his scorn and fury to endure; thee he will in the bowels immure, of groaning earth and in a hole, everlasting thy naked soul, shall wail and gibber- this shall be, unless the key thou render me of thy black fortress and the spell, that bindeth stone thou tell, and speak the words of opening."....
""There wide did Luthien throw, and called aloud with voice as clear, as still at whiles mortal hear, long elvish trumpets o'er the hill, ech, when all the world is still. The dawn peered over mountains wan; their grey heads silent looked thereon, the hill trembled, the citadel crumbled, and all its towers fell. The rocks yawned and the bridge broke, and Sirion spumed in sudden smoke."
-Beren and Luthien, J.R.R Tolkien
I have been reading Beren and Luthien again, and there is something which I think is very interesting... twice in the book, (at least as far as i read, maybe more) there were times when some kind of spell or word was forced from someone (Thu, the evil werewolf sorcerer and the cat king) and when spoken by Luthien, the building fell and destroyed upon itself. Basically what I believe, is that the building were bound with a spell of some sort, a spell of binding and holding, and the fortress would endure. However, when spoken, the fortress fell and not a stone on stone was left.
I am here to make this suggestion! Just perhaps, a bit watered down.
So, this 'binding spell" I am sure everyone here has used in game. It is called the BANNER. When you place a banner on a gold, silver, or bronze block, it will create a square which nobody except those you want will access.
Here we are: I believe when you are placing a banner down, there should be an EXTRA slot, which is called "Words of Command" or just "Command". Here, you can type something, and that something will become a word of command.
This word of command, will be like the password for your computer, just in this case, for your fortress. If or when someone forces it out of you, (say, instead of killing you, forcing you to say it) they will be able to write it in as a command.(this is just what it looks like in my head)
EXAMPLE: You have built a great fortress in Dol Guldur, and it has been the death and dungeon of many people. The woodland realm are fed up with your dominion, and come fight you. You are outnumbered five to one, and are near death, with bows aimed at your sorry head. They force you to tell the words of command, you say whatever you wrote in the banners. ((Example)) "IronJaw333 will endure no matter what". These words are VERY powerful, and in your enemies case, a "key" to your castle. They will then do-
/CommandWord[speak]:IronJaw333 will endure no matter what"
this being written, YOUR BANNERS ARE NOW USELESS. Just decoration entities on blocks. Those woodland elves are free to march into your fortress, and loot whatever they feel like.
I did not bother suggesting that the entire fortress will blow up, because #1) Impossible to code, as this entire suggestion may be, and #2) very unfair and VERY mean I think, to the player who spent weeks building that fortress, get bullied, and weeks of work get wiped out in seconds.
This way however, the conquerors will get a sweet base and glutton over victory, while not knowing you expected this, and poisoned all the wine and have an army in your bedroom.
Hope you guys enjoyed this suggestion! Any questions or further suggestions are welcome like always! Toodles!
