The Elven smithy is a structure found in most Elven biomes. There are four similar but distinct variations of this structure, one for each Elven faction (minus the Elves of Dorwinion) and one for Rivendell:
- the Lindon smithy, found in Lindon;
- the Rivendell smithy, found in Rivendell
- the Galadhrim smithy, found in Lothlórien;
- the Wood-elven smithy, found in the Woodland Realm.
Their most important features are the smith trader found inside, and the Elven forges.
There is also a ruined variant, the ruined Eregion smithy, which can be found in Eregion. This has no trader. It is clearly of High Elven origin, as it is made out of High Elven bricks.
Structure[]
The smithy is made of High Elven, Galadhrim or Wood-elven bricks, depending on the type. It is decorated with carved bricks, pillars and the respective Elven wood bars around the upper part of the windows. Each version has a specifically colored clay tile roof: light grey, cyan, light blue, dark blue, and dark grey for Imladris and Lindon, yellow for the Galadhrim, dark green for the Wood-elves, and grey for Eregion. In the center, there is a block of lava protected by the factions steel bars. Don't fall in, if you climb around the smithy's roof!
It contains three Elven forges, which allow the player to smelt Elven steel, which in turn is used to create equipment for all elvish factions. There are also two elven crafting tables of the respective faction, two anvils and a vanilla crafting table. There are two chests (or boxes for Galadhrim) inside the smithy that may contain coal, charcoal, ores and ingots, and well as sticks and books, and possibly other items.
Traders[]
Inside the structure, the Elven smith can be found. Which smith it is depends on the location of the smithy, as follows:
- a Lindon smith in Lindon smithies.
- a Rivendell smith in Rivendell smithies
- a Galadhrim smith in Lothlórien smithies.
- a Wood-elf smith in Mirkwood smithies.
- ruined Eregion smithies have no smiths.
You can trade with the smith, provided you have at least +100 alignment with the elf faction they belong to. The smiths will sell you Elven equipment and buy the raw materials they need for make their products from you.
