Gulfing traders are mannish traders of the Near Harad faction. They can only be found in their respective market stalls in the bazaars of Gulfing towns. The blacksmith and farmer, in addition to the market stalls, can also be found in smithies and farms, respectively. The barkeeper spawns exclusively in taverns.

Only five market stalls form a bazaar. So you won't be able to find them all in one place, but will probably have to travel quite some time, if you want to find a specific one.

These traders were all added in Update 34, and are one of the five types of traders, that replaced the so-called Southron traders (or Near Harad traders), that were in the game before. They are different from normal Gulfings in the fact that they all have a coin in one hand and a tool of their respective business in the other.

Behaviour[]

The traders stand around in the market stall and wait for customers. They will trade for silver coins and exchange your money for larger or smaller variants.

They normally are passive NPCs but will attack if provoked; once provoked they will attack you with a tool of their trade.

Trading[]

The Gulfing traders will trade with anyone who has positive or neutral Near Harad alignment. They sell various goods according to their profession. They will buy what they need, to do their job properly.

The traders will only buy or sell a certain amount of items before they will stop accepting that type of goods. After this happens there is a cooldown time before they will trade this item again. Even the complete set of trades will change after you trade more wealth with a certain trader. In this case, the new set will be unavailable for a short while, and then reopen.

Trading with any of the Near Harad Traders, no matter which sub-faction they belong to, will earn you the achievement "Desert Riches".

Here is a list of which professions can be found:

Price lists[]

Items sold - Below are tables of values for each item that the player is available to purchase from the respective trader. Use this tables to find out if your trader is giving you a good deal or not.

Items bought - Below are tables of values for each item that the player can sell to the respective trader. Use this tables to earn more money by only selling when the prices are high. You will not be able to sell every item to every trader as not each trader will want to purchase every item listed below. Note that they only buy undamaged tools.

Speech Bank[]

All Gulfing traders, except for the blacksmith, farmer, and bartender, have the same speech bank. These traders talk about the lands nearby and their wares. They encourage you to sell and buy from them, provided you have the proper alignment.

Friendly

  • If you go south, pay a visit to the Town of Bones and pass my regards.
  • Mulkhêr seems to favour me, so you are lucky to be a friend of mine, Person.
  • Khôpakadar always has been and always will be the greatest city on earth, Person. Don't believe anything else.
  • I originally hail from Ephalôn, but heard the temple of Khôpakadar calling to me.
  • Those who sail from Azûl talk about lands far beyond our reach.
  • I'm sure our rich waters are blessed with endless fish, Person.
  • You look like a fellow who could do with a blessing or two.
  • Topaz Bay has become safer of late! You should come and trade there one day.
  • You're not from here, are you? I know how that feels, but don't be afraid!
  • Nomads trade with us most often, yet they never seem to have an interest in staying around.
  • I like the folk who come from the seas, but they never want to talk, besides about trade.
  • Have you seen an Easterling around, Person? I spoke to him yesterday, but I can't seem to find him anymore.
  • The Town of Bones is a sight to behold, Person.
  • Blessed are those who trade with me, Person. Don't you want to know what that is like?
  • You seem like the type who would know a good deal when you see one. I respect that.
  • Could I perhaps interest you in some of my wares?
  • I am always open for another trade. What are you looking for?
  • Competition drives better bargains, Person.
  • I saw you look, yes, my wares are THAT good!
  • You have an eye for detail, am I right? Take a closer look at the quality of my wares, Person.
  • Greetings! Have you come to trade with me?
  • I am sure I have something among my wares that'll interest you, Person.
  • A good trader never says no to another trade.
  • I think that's a price we can agree on.
  • I've already given you my lowest price, Person!
  • You drive a hard bargain...
  • Meet me halfway here, I also have to make a living.
  • The prices? Ah well, these things are blessed by Mulkhêr himself, you see.

Hostile

  • I knew you were a filthy Corsair from Topaz Bay!
  • Aha, a new slave for my collection!
  • Not even your skull could be of value to me now!
  • To the altar with you!
  • I can deal with those poachers of the South. You should be no problem!
  • Into the Gulf with you! Let your sins drag you down to the bottom!
  • You may have tricked the nomads into aiding you, but I can see through your disguise!
  • If you rolled the die of luck, this is a poor outcome for you!
  • Where are my mercenaries when I need them?
  • Your lack of faith has driven you mad!
  • Ah, Person. This was a poor decision indeed!
  • Even if I beat you into submission, you would be of no worth to me!
  • I heard the armies of the Ulugil pay good money for Man-skin!
  • And to think I almost invited you over for a talk!
  • All this effort, and you still resort to violence?
  • Oh, you want to trade blows? That's fine by me!
  • Desert sun and scorpion sting, your strike means nothing!
  • What a foolish act! The heat must have got to you!
  • Stop this villain, before something is stolen!
  • My shop is closed. I shall do no business with you!
  • Scum like you make me sick, ruining a peaceful bazaar!
  • Disturber of peace! Defiler of trade!
  • You have no place in the Gulf!
  • Return to your own people, and take your savage manners with you!
  • The trade is off, but you will pay!
  • The price for your crime is your life!
  • Stop! Thief! Murderer!
  • Begone! You aren't welcome here!
  • I bet you're just a common thief like the rest of them!

Gulfing Baker[]

Gulfing bakers are easily recognizable by the loaf of olive bread in their hand. It must really be hard, stale bread, since they actually use it to defend themselves when attacked. They sell bread and pastry and buy ingredients like wheat, sugar and olives, along with bakery gear like buckets. You need positive or neutral Near Harad to trade with them.

Speech[]

  • Raise your drinks in honour of Mulkhêr!
  • Here's to the gods! May they make our drinks twice as strong, and tomorrow's troubles twice as weak!
  • You in need of a drink, Person? Of course I can arrange that!
  • Here to warm up, or cool off?
  • You're not from around here, are you? Well, you are welcome nonetheless!
  • Stay a while and listen to the tales travellers bring along!
  • Got any tales of your own, Person? We love hearing them.
  • Once the day is over, let me tell you about the time Mulkhêr himself blessed my drinks!
  • My drinks are the best you'll get for your coin. Best in all the Gulf!
  • You look like you need something stiff!
  • Sorry, but the real good stuff I keep saved for special occasions.
  • Loosen those lips with the sweet sting of alcohol, Person!
  • You and I look like we could become friends!
  • Drink until Mulkhêr goes to sleep!
  • Another one? Are you sure? Har, just joking!
  • I shall crack open a new barrel, just for my new friend.
  • Oh, do you mean to sell? Interesting.
  • Keep your weapons in their sheaths, and we should be fine.
  • I wouldn't wear a helmet indoors, but to each their own, right?
  • Welcome to The Renegade Corsair!
  • Welcome! Please, make yourself comfortable!
  • Mulkhêr is kind to all who embrace him, and so I will do the same.
  • You are welcome in The Renegade Corsair!
  • Welcome to Person, my good friend!
  • All who serve the cause are welcome in The Renegade Corsair!

Hostile

  • You are ruining the atmosphere!
  • Your presence is chasing away my guests!
  • You are no guest of mine. Begone!
  • So, it for was your coming that Mulkhêr watered down my drinks? I knew it had to be a sign!
  • You will not get anything from my tap, barbarian!
  • Are you a Corsair? They always cause trouble!
  • Can someone fetch the guards for me?
  • How rude are you, to walk in here as a criminal to our people?
  • Drunkards and patrons, what do you think you are doing?
  • By the arak! So hostile!
  • I have no more words for you, Person!
  • Your downfall will be just another tale to add to the legend of The Renegade Corsair!
  • You had better start running before the mob gets here!
  • I'll crack a goblet over your head!
  • Run! Go ahead!
  • Can't you just leave us be?
  • This cloth is thick enough to have you suffocate!
  • I'll string you upside down and serve your blood as this week's special!
  • I always wanted to try to brew a drink from Northerner eyes!
  • The sign was clear, was it not? No dogs, no slaves, you are both!
  • Get out of The Renegade Corsair, you faithless villain!
  • Leave The Renegade Corsair at once! Run back to the North!

They will only trade with players that have a Near Harad alignment of +50 or higher. The achievement "Dragonblood Forge" can be earned through trading with a blacksmith.

Speech[]

Friendly

  • All these crops are brought to you by the finest slaves, Person!
  • My slaves worked day and night to get you these crops.
  • Oh, well yes, these are produced by enslaved Gondorians, why do you ask?
  • Fresh goods from the land! Come get them here!
  • Ah, Person! Need any provisions for your journeys?
  • Looking to work the land? I could always use another worker.
  • I promise you, my slaves are the hardest workers in all the Gulf!
  • I get my workers from the sailors. They like to set up camps, display cages and all!
  • Look for the black tents. They belong to the slavers who sell land-workers.
  • Blessed are those who trade with me, Person. Don't you want to know what that is like?
  • You seem like the type who would know a good deal when you see one. I respect that.
  • Could I perhaps interest you in some of my fruits?
  • I am always open for another trade. What are you looking for?
  • Competition drives better bargains, Person.
  • I saw you look, yes, my wares are THAT good!
  • You have an eye for detail, am I right? Take a closer look at the quality of my crops, Person.
Ah well, these items are blessed by Mulkhêr himself, you see.

Hostile

  • You're not even worth the work all those poor slaves put into producing these crops!
  • Oh, suddenly you feel like you are better than us, Person?
  • Here I am, treating you with respect as a northerner, and what do I get?
  • What a foolish act! The heat must have got to you!
  • Stop this criminal, before something is stolen!
  • My farm is closed. I shall do no business with you!
  • Criminals like you make me sick, threatening a peaceful farmer!
  • Aha, a new slave for my collection!
  • Your lack of faith has driven you mad!
  • Ah, Person. This was a poor decision indeed!
  • Even if I beat you into submission, you would be of no worth to me!

Gulfing Stonemason[]

Can you imagine being all day out in the desert, mining sandstone? Afterwards working all the stuff to get ordinary or even carved bricks out of it? No? Then seek out a Gulfing stonemason in a bazaar. They are easily recognizable by a brick in their hand, which they also use to defend themselves when attacked. They sell mainly all kinds of Haradric bricks and red and white sandstone and stone products. They buy what they need for their business like pickaxes, cooked food, torches and buckets. You need positive or neutral Near Harad alignment to trade with them.
