This feature is present in: Renewed only.

The Lossoth are a furtive and unfriendly people that live in the frozen wastes of Forodwaith, and the more inhabitable regions of Forochel. They are a hardy folk, descending from the primitive Forodwaith people of Elder Days. They have learned to survive amidst the cold of Morgoth, which still lingers in their northerly dwellings.

History[]

This feature is present in: Renewed only.

Not much is known of the history of the Lossoth, except what is chronicled in the annals of the Men of the West. The Lossoth have a bloody rivalry with the Orcs of Gundabad and Angmar, and maintain a friendship with the Dunedain of the North.

In the past, the Lossoth harboured King Arvedui for a time, before counselling him to wait for the summer to leave the icy bay, as the hold that the Witch-king had over the seas was still very strong, even in early spring. This advice was ignored, to a ill end. The ship of Arvedui floundered, and all hands aboard were lost, including two Palantiri of the North. The Ring of Barahir was spared, as Arvedui had ransomed it to the Lossoth as payment for their aid.

Later, the Dunedain of the North recovered the Ring of Barahir, and learned of the fate of Arvedui from the Lossoth. Ever after, the Lossoth have been friends of the Dunedain. As the Dark Lord grows in power, the Lossoth will stand in the north against the legions of Angmar. Perhaps if it were not for their ceasless vigilance, Angmar would have already swept through Eriador.

Locations[]

Although there are currently no NPCs, once they are added they are expected to inhabit the northern lands of Forochel, and, less commonly, Forodwaith.

Alignment[]

The Lossoth are somewhat isolated, only being friends with the Dúnedain that they once helped long ago. They are mortal enemies with all Orcish factions, and do not approve of killing enemy civilians.
