I mean, I'd be totally down with people treating me like I'm a normal user with a couple of extra buttons, because realistically, that's what I am. But I think that a lot of users don't see it that way, and therefore we're treated differently. Our ability to have the final say in arguments and things just reinforces that idea.
In general, we try to be fairly quick and just with our decisions and intervene minimally. If you have a problem with how a specific staff member acts, post a civil message on their wall and we'll have a discussion.
I act as an administrator, in my view, and nothing more, because that's what I am. I'm a user with extra buttons, but those buttons come with a responsibility. I prefer to be treated as just a regular guy, because I'm that as well, and if you've been on the Discord at all you've probably observed that I act that way as well, especially in offtopic channels. I put on more of a policing tone when dealing with admin matters because that's what I'm supposed to do - I'm supposed to police the wiki, and when that requires talking down to someone I do it. I certainly don't consider myself an overlord, at any rate, and if you see otherwise I'd be more than happy to talk about whatever issues you have.
It has a great amount of content but very little active community. I have myabe 3 users?
Any tips to get a flourishing communtiy like this one?
It's Sean, actually xP My pleasure.
Hmmm... this wiki got so big because the mod and FB page advertise it. Find the right channels to advertise and you should get at lesst a few people in, unless your topic's obscure. You could try here, if you wish. Make a user blog and/or have a message posted in the Discord (if you want a Discord message tell me and I'll do it for ya, we have advertising rules).
I took a look at that wiki, one of the authors of that series also helped write the Spiderwick chronicles, of which I am a big fan. The more you know. One way to attract contributors in that situation is to leverage larger existing related communities to get the word out, just like you're (kinda) doing here.
And as a side note, I'd recommend putting links to rules pages on the mainpage, not the actual rules. It's a little off-putting to find a nasty "this and this and this is prohibited" before you get to the content you came for.
Hey! My name is Atvelonis, and I'm the Fandom Wiki Manager for the The Lord of the Rings Minecraft Mod Wiki as well as an admin on Elder Scrolls. I'm here to help you and the wider community, and act as a liaison between you and Fandom Staff. If you ever have any questions or issues related to the wiki, its features (editing, templates, bots, etc.), or whatever else, feel free to reach out to me on my message wall or on Discord (Atvelonis#9495) and I can help out! —Atvelonis (talk) 22:53, May 2, 2019 (UTC)
Hi! I'm hoping this message is autogenerated based on wiki activity, since we all follow each other's message walls, so we each got five notifications. Just wanted to let you know that if you contact one of us, you get all of us :P
First off, I'm sorry. I got sorta irrationally angry reading over that thread, and I do regret being that harsh in the reason for removing your status.
However, I didn't promote you so that you could use being a chat mod in order to back up an argument. You're going to encounter people who cannot help but continue arguing with you regardless of how well or ill founded their argument is. In future, consider what implications posting a response will have on the course of the conversation.
Having arguments like this is something that we all have to go through; I certainly remember times when I've been embroiled in issues like this. I'll consider restoring chat mod to you (not immediately) if you can rise above people like Arcen as you interact with people on the wiki.
I can talk to you tomorrow about it if you'd like, but I'd recommend sleeping on this one before you make up your mind on things one way or another.
"mean in other places" doesn't justify any sort of action on the wiki. We won't take any disciplinary action against any wiki users unless they break the rules on the wiki. Facebook, Twitter, other video games, etc. don't count.
I noticed, that you weren't so active recently. But I know this page was one of your "childs". Would you nevertheless be so kind, to add the missing four (according to my calculations which might be wrong) new wood types to this picture.
I can, although it would be nice if you knew what they were. It would be difficult to cross-check with, say, the creative inventory, as so many look similar. Although if they are in a paticualr order that would be nice.
