|“||In that dreadful light Sam stood aghast, for now, looking to his left, he could see the Tower of Cirith Ungol in all its strength. The horn that he had seen from the other side was only its topmost turret. Its eastern face stood up in three great tiers from a shelf in the mountain-wall far below; its back was to a great cliff behind, from which it jutted out in pointed bastions, one above the other, diminishing as they rose, with sheer sides of cunning masonry that looked north-east and south-east.||”|
–The Return of the King
Mordor Towers are structures generated in the Mordor biome. They are tall buildings made of Mordor Brick with multiple floors and a central spiral staircase, and are often filled with Mordor Orcs. At the very top of each tower, there is a Mordor Orc Commander, who will allow you to hire Mordor units. On the second-highest level there are three barrels and three Orc bombs.
Presumably intended as command posts for the legions of Mordor, these towers generate rather empty, but can easily be commandeered by players for transformation into ready-made bases, complete with access to a unit trader.
Looting out these towers is the only way (with the exception of dungeons) a player with a negative Mordor alignment is able to wield the Fire of Orthanc (as Orc Bombs do not drop from Orc bombardiers).
Interior[edit | edit source]
Ground Level[edit | edit source]
Mordor Towers are simple, mostly empty structures. The first floor features a large Orc Gate beneath a Banner of Mordor as an entrance, with three barred windows and a staircase leading higher up into the tower. The ground floor, as with all the floors above it, is made of smooth Mordor Rock slabs.
Middle Levels[edit | edit source]
Most of the middle levels of the tower are completely empty, featuring only four large, barred windows. The number of floors is mostly random, but the second-highest one will always contain three Orc Bombs lined up against one wall and three barrels of Orc Draught (with various potencies) lined up against the opposite wall.
Top Level[edit | edit source]
The top level of the Mordor Tower is exposed to the sky, featuring a spiked parapet with more banners and some Orc Torches. A Mordor Orc Commander always spawns at the top of the tower.
