Orc Forges are forge blocks used by Orcish factions, which allow players to alloy metals and smelt up to four items at once. In total, they contain one slot for fuel, four slots for items to be smelted, and four slots to be alloyed with the items being smelted. They are found only in forge tents in various Orc Camps.
In the renewed version only, forge recipes can be configured using datapacks, and they smelt at half the speed of their 1.7.10 equivalents. They also emit smoke particles through the hole in their top.
Smelting and Alloying[]
Orc Forges are similar to the other types of forges that can be found in Middle-earth, but they have several unique attributes.
- They can smelt Orc Steel from Morgul Iron Ore.
- They can create Uruk Steel by alloying iron ingots (or iron ore) and coal.
- They can create Black Uruk Steel by alloying Orc Steel or Morgul Iron Ore with Durnor.
- They can create Morgul Steel by alloying Orc Steel or Morgul Iron Ore with Gulduril.
- They can smelt any type of wooden log into charred wood.
Orc Forges smelt all other ores (except mithril, which these are unable to process) normally, and they can also smelt any type of brick into cracked brick.
For a guide to Middle-earth ingots and alloys, see here. Unlike crafting tables, usage of forges is not affected by alignment, so any player can use Orc Forges (but not craft them).
Cooking[]
Additionally, unlike other forge types, Orc Forges can be used for cooking. Any kind of meat (raw or cooked) can be cooked in Orc Forges to produce rotten flesh.
Crafting[]
The Orc Forge can be crafted on Morgul, Angmar, Gundabad, Dol Guldur, and Uruk crafting tables for eight of each respective faction's brick type. However, as Gundabad does not have a brick type, it uses cobblestone instead, making its recipe cheaper than the other four (as cobblestone doesn't require smelting, and thus doesn't consume fuel).
