Orc Steel Ingots are a type of black steel used by Mordor, Angmar and Dol Guldur Orcs to make their equipment and armour. Equipment made from this steel is marginally superior to that made with iron, and most other steel types are stronger; however, Orc Steel is notable for being the only steel type that doesn't need to be alloyed with anything, and can instead be smelted directly from Morgul Iron.

Orc Steel ingots are made by smelting Morgul iron ore in an Orc Forge. This ore can be found commonly in the biomes of Mordor, Angmar, and Dol Guldur, at rates comparable to iron elsewhere.

Good-aligned players can obtain Orc Steel ingots on occasion by killing Orcs; Olog-hai will also sometimes drop Orc Steel ingots upon death. Orc Steel ingots can also be found as loot in the tents of Orc Camps or produced by unsmelting unneeded items made from this type of steel.

Upon smelting Morgul Iron ore into Orc Steel, the player earns the achievement "Orc Smith".

Uses[]

Evil players can use the ingots to craft the armour and equipment of the three factions on their respective crafting tables:

As well as armour, tools, and weapons, Orc Steel is also used to craft chandeliers, bars, plating, and Orc Bombs on any of the three tables. All told, Orc Steel is an incredibly useful item for evil players. Orcs value it quite highly too, and traders from Angmar, Dol Guldur, and Mordor all buy it from players.

As with other metals, nine Orc Steel ingots can be crafted into a block, and vice versa. This does not require an Orcish crafting table; it is done on the standard table.

To players with negative Orc alignment, the ingots are largely useless, as they require the use of the Morgul crafting table, Dol Guldur crafting table, or Angmar crafting table to make anything useful. However, they can still be used to repair captured Orc equipment and armour or Utumno weapons and armour on an anvil. They could also be sold to evil players on a server or to an Oddment Collector.
