This feature is present in: Renewed, Legacy.

The mod adds new player respawning mechanics to the Middle-earth dimension to better suit the world map biome generation.

If your player dies within a range of 2000 blocks (by default) away from the world spawnpoint (x: 0, z: 0) or less than 5000 blocks away from a valid bed, then you will respawn near your bed or the Ring Portal.

Otherwise Middle-earth respawning comes into effect and you will respawn somewhere within a distance of 500 to 1500 blocks from your death point. This is to prevent players who die a long distance from their spawn point, having to undertake journeys of several thousand blocks - or much further - to return to their death point.

These new mechanics are enabled by default, but they can be disabled in the mod's config file. The distances involved can also be changed there.

Trivia[]

The anglo-saxon ear-rune (= letters EA) probably means "earth" (= ground) or "grave". Tolkien used those ᚱᚢᚾᛖᛋ for some texts in the initial drafts of "The Lord of the Rings", later on, he replaced them with cirth runes.

The grave is horrible to every knight,
when the corpse quickly begins to cool
and is laid in the bosom of the dark earth.
Prosperity declines, happiness passes away
and covenants are broken.
