Redwood trees are the tallest species of tree that can be found in the Mod. They dominate the terrain of Eryn Garan, and make the biome a truly stunning sight. For players, these trees also boast huge supplies of wood, though fall damage is a potential hazard.

Spawning[]

Redwood trees are native to the forests of Eryn Garan. There, they are the dominant tree species, towering over everything else in the biome. They can also, like the other trees in both the Mod and Vanilla, be grown from saplings.

Apperance[]

Redwood trees are the tallest trees in real life and by far the tallest in the mod, and among the largest. They come in a variety of sizes, with slender trunks ranging from 1 block in thickness to 5, with a slightly wider base. The tallest variants, with a height of over 120 blocks, can reach above the clouds. In spite of their massive size, it can be seen that they have a typical coniferous shape, with a tall, evenly dimensioned trunk, and a tiered canopy that tapers towards the tip. Their wood is dark red, hence their name, and their leaves consist of dark green coniferous needles. Real redwood trees, however, have gray bark rather than red.

Uses[]

Cutting down a redwood will yield a dark red wood, which can be used to make planks, stairs, slabs, and fences. In the case of the larger individuals, several axes are likely to be used up in the process of harvesting wood. Nevertheless, the rewards are great - you may never need to swing an axe again. In addition, these majestic trees make for very impressive decorations, though you may need a lot of room and plenty of bonemeal.

Planting[]

Although, even a redwood tree grown from a single sapling is rather tall compared to other trees, you might want to grow bigger variants. It is possible to plant the saplings in a 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 or 5x5 square. After some time or with the help of bonemeal, a tree will grow with the lower part of the trunk being of the respective width. The lowest part (representing the roots) even being a bit wider. The top narrows down in thickness quite considerably.
