Why is the rum always gone?

–Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean

Rum is the favourite drink of pirates, ne'er-do-wells, and barbarians. Be careful though, as this drink can cause your world to spin for six or more minutes if drunk at full potency. It is the second most alcoholic drink in the Mod (after Vodka). It is an incredibly efficient food source if the player lives near water and has little else to eat or drink. However, it is wise to make sure your alcohol tolerance is high.

Brewing[edit | edit source]

It can be brewed using six pieces of sugar cane placed above the usual three water buckets in a barrel. Like other alcoholic beverages, rum can be brewed in five potency steps. These are: weak, light, moderate, strong, and potent. With every step. the effects and alcoholicity of the rum are increased.

Obtaining[edit | edit source]

Rum can be bought from Dunlending bartenders. It can also be found in Corsair structures, and is sometimes dropped by them.

Effects[edit | edit source]

When consumed, rum gives the player no advantageous effects, other than partly filling up the hunger bar depending upon its potency. Even if the player's bar is full, rum can still be consumed. It may, however, give the player the Nausea effect, with probability and duration equally depending upon the potency; as rum is the second most alcoholic drink in the Mod (first being vodka), this effect may be quite long-lasting. The player can counter this by building up alcohol tolerance.
