His raiment is blue, and blue is the fire of his eyes, and his sceptre is of sapphire, which the Noldor wrought for him; and he was appointed to be the vicegerent of Ilúvatar, King of the world of Valar and Elves and Men, and the chief defence against the evil of Melkor.

–About Manwë, The Silmarillion

Sapphires are one of the rare types of gems that can be found while mining in Middle-Earth. They are a bright blue colour.

As with all the gemstones, the best way to obtain gemstones is to mine them yourself. Another option for those of you who don't like mining is to go and buy them from the various traders that sell them.

Sapphire Block

As with all the gems in the mod, sapphires can be turned into a block by combining nine of them. Other than that, they can't be used in any other types of crafting. The best use for them as of now is to sell them to a trader who accepts them, who will pay a decent amount of coins (9 - 15).

  • Sapphire has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Because of this hardness it is used for industrial applications as well as decoration.
  • Sapphire is a type of corundum, or aluminum oxide. The blue comes from traces of impurities, which can be iron, titanium, chromium, copper, or magnesium.
