After some time he felt for his pipe. It was not broken, and that was something. Then he felt for his pouch, and there was some tobacco in it, and that was something more. Then he felt for matches and could not find any at all, and that shattered his hopes completely. Just as well for him, he agreed as he came to his senses. Goodness knows what the striking of matches and the smell of tobacco would have brought on him out of dark holes in that horrible place.

The Hobbit

A sulfur match, known as a pocket match in the 1.15 version of the mod is a utility item similar to the Minecraft flint & steel, as it is used in the lighting or burning of blocks. However, unlike the flint & steel, the match can only be used once. It is sold by Hobbit bartenders.

These are presumed to be the lighters of the smoking pipe. If so, then a Hobbit would go nowhere without some of these!

Obtaining Edit

These lighters can be found as random loot inside various structures in the Shire, such as Hobbit holes or Hobbit farms. They can also be obtained as a random drop of Hobbits.

Four sulphur matches are produced by one sulfur and one stick in a vanilla crafting table or your personal crafting grid arranged in a pattern similar to that of a torch.

TriviaEdit

  • In real life, matches are not made out of sulfur, as it is not pyrophoric enough to ignite when struck. Matches are generally made out of red phosphorus, with a bit of white phosphorus on the tip if they are of the "strike-anywhere" variety.
