Page Naming

When a creating and naming a page, certain guidelines should be followed:

  • Make sure it does not already exist
    • Ex.: Don't make a page called "The Shire" if "Shire" exists
  • Capitalize appropriately
    • Ex.: Not "the lord of the rings," but "The Lord of the Rings"
  • Use singular terms
    • Ex.: Not "High Elves," but "High Elf"
  • Spell name correctly
    • Ex.: Not "Acheiavemnts," but "Achievements"
  • Don't exaggerate names
    • Ex.: Not "The Galadhrim Elves of The Lothlórien Gardens," but "Galadhrim Elf"
  • Use mod names
    • Ex.: Not "Wood-Elf Workbench," but "Wood-elven Crafting Table"

Spelling

Because this is an international community, it is important to remember a few things:

  • People from multiple countries contribute and read the wiki
  • The main language of the wiki is English, however it has been decided that British English should be used in main pages (e.g. armour not armor)

Content

Content must be trustworthy and kind. To ensure this, follow these guidelines:

  • Don't upload false information
    • Ex.: Don't say that if you hit a shire pony with a rhino horn it will become a unicorn
  • Remove false content
    • If something is certainly not true and not cited, please remove it
  • Don't use inappropriate language
  • Don't post opinions or suggestions on content pages
    • Don't tell us you want dragons on a zebra page

External Sources

When using information from external sources, remember the following:

  • Keep text in the same format
    • Ex.: Not "This," but "This"
  • Cite your sources when you can
    • If you don't know how, here's my reference[1]
    • You can use {{cite}} if a reference is in need

Files

Photos can be more useful if these instructions are followed:

  • Name photos appropriately
    • Ex.: Not "2014-08-30_9.38.57ASHJKSADNM.png," but "MallornTree.png"
  • Adding descriptions to files can also help
  • Files should be relevant
    • Ex.: Not "SelfieNumber2!!!!!1!!11.png,"
  • File names, descriptions, and content should be appropriate

Blocking

Do not ever do any of the following, or you may be blocked

  • Remove most/all content from a page (Blanking)
  • Use inappropriate language
  • Spam
  • Insult others
