    • You guys should also keep in mind that (I think) you need a special internet connection to be able to host a server like this. Do some research before you plunge right in.

    • What? You mean port forwarding?

        Loading editor
    • I've co-hosted, and hosted some before (admittedly the latter was for about 4 players) so I assume I must have that 'special internet connection'. Although I have no idea what you mean.

    • Wow. how did i just find this.

    • My dad said that you need a "business" connection. It costs a whole lot more, but allows you to host global servers. I am thinking about buying a box to run a server on, Linux of course. Definitely use Linux for servers, no doubt about it.

Which is why I am trying to get other people to get in on this, my computer is crap( actually it's broken right know) and I don't have the time to fix it. I was kind of hoping a pro would help me out on this and be willing to port forward.

    • I don't think I am capable of that kind of thing for the time being. I might be able to convince my parents if I had a bit of cash to upgrade our internet, but I really don't think that would work. I can help with the technical side, but for the most part, that is all.

    • If i can find a way to pay for it i will try to find a cheap host and use that

        Loading editor
    • I mean, if you can fork out €10 (it's $10/£10/€10 and euros are cheaper) omgserv is a good one to go for, and it's pretty good with hosting. I mean there are others, but they're stupidly expensive. Omgserv is what awakening runs, so Thorin will have had a little experience with the console when you want to get it up, and Red and I were considering raising up a server on the same platform so if I go ahead before you and you decide to use omgserv, I would be delighted to lend a hand.

    • Unfortunately I am really not in a position to be able to run the server at all, for various reasons, one of them is my computer just is not up to the task, and my wifi is ****. So I must say we have to cancel this server unless someone else wants to pick up for me. If that is the case, I can send them the complete cauldron file or something thru Dropbox or something.
