Mangos! What a lovely fruit. They are my favourite fruit and they're in the mod too.

I think they should add more ways to utilize this lovely fruit.

    MangoImage

    Mango traders

Add a Tauredain merchant who spawns in Far Harad and rarely in Near harad. He will sell mangos for players who aren#t so far south, and other stuff too.

    Mango food items

Mango cake, mango bread, and mango liqueur. All quite obvious recipes crafted on the normal crafting table (Not Tauredain!)

These could also be found in tauredain houses, chests, as loot, and trades, ect.

    Bigger mango trees

Add a chance for mango saplings to grow into big trees like the big oaks, or rarely even baobab.

Edit: Suggested by Jimmy Dude 21 perhaps it would be better for the big trees to grow like jungles instead of oaks.

    Mango land!

They should also add a very rare sub biome of Far Harad, where all the trees are mangos. Tauredain spawn there who are constantly eating a mango and drinking mango liqueur.

    Crafting uses for mango

Besides the food/drink, you could craft Mango Fibers out of mangos. These items will have many uses:

You can make a mango block out of the mango fibes. This would be like a thatch or dried reed block, and also have stairs, slabs and a bar thing like the reed bars block.

There would also be a bed made of mangos and a new basket type (like the reed baskets revealed for beat 29)

There could also be armor and weapons made of mango fibers. This would be like a Far Harad version of leather armour (weak and easily obtainable) and would be worn by Tauredain Blowgunners instead of the bronze stuff. The weapons would be things like whips and nets, and maybe a sword.

You could use mango fibers to hang people (if that is ever implemented, like I saw on another suggestion thread)

And finally the mango fibers could be used as furnace fuel and forge/oven fuel.

    More achievements

Achievements for crafting mango cake, bread, and brewing liqueur, making the blocks, finding the mango land biom, and trading with the traveling Tauredain merchant.

    That's all!

Thanks for reading my suggestion, if you like it please give it a kudos and I hope to see it endorsed!

      Are you sure?!

    • Mango Traders: Good, but maybe just have a traveling merchant for the tauredain (or the moredain, since evil lacks another merchant besides near harad) that not only sells mangoes, but other faction items.

Mango food items: Good. Jungle feasts would be more exciting!

Oak and Baobab mango trees: I don't think we need baobab mango trees, but another size would do nicely to add variety to southern forests. Maybe "jungle giant" sized mango trees would be appropriate as opposed to big oak-sized mango trees, made with 4 mango saplings.

Mango biome: Maybe a jungle sub-biome could be mango jungle, where most of the trees would be mango trees with some mango shrubs.

Mango fibres: What part of the Mango fruit would be used for the fibre? Like in real life, how would you make them? Maybe smelting a mango would yield a mango rind, which could be crafted into 2x2 blocks and be used in some tauredain structures. But probably not for armour.

Achievements: One for entering a Mango biome would be good, but to add others would force you to balance it and add achievements for all the drinks out there, a fairly unnessescary and time-consuming task.

      Overall, good stuffs.

      Thank you for the feedback!

About the traders, yes it would be good if they sold other stuff too, I just thought mango could be one of them. (I did write that in the post if you didn't notice)

Big jungle type mango trees: Great idea! I will add it to the suggestion.

About the fibers, well I guess all fruits have some fibers in them. Perhaps it is a little unrealistic... But it's minecraft afterall.

      Achievements: good point actually.

    • Imo, you're overdoing it.

Production of Mango fibre for all those purposes is very unrealistic.

Note that Tauredain cannot travel safely between their jungle and any lands south of Gondor and Mordor.

Baobab sized Mango trees sounds like Pityarocconya faerie tale ...

I was hoping to find a serious motivation and some easier alternative ... didn't find one.

As you may have noticed, I have now replaced this image of a Papaya with one showing a Mango :)

    • Like you, i love mangos in realive and in the mod :), so

Lets hype for more mango stuff!

        Loading editor
    • also if the gear/cog rope/pully replacement for redstone ends up coming out mango fibers could be used for ropes.

otherwise i love the suggestion and as far as light armor for blowgunners... you have obviously  never been on the side of the tauredain those things fall like nine-pins although i like the idea and perhaps crafted on the tauredain CT there could be a tauredain version of scout armor made from the mango fiber

also as far as mango trader... well i say we have a near harad one as well because moredain dont really do much there and as pointed out previously there are no evil traveling merch in far harad either.

achievements for everything... im going to say yes to finding biome and trading, but other than that no

and mango food, yes, at least some should be on the tauredain CT it is their fruit they have an achievement for getting it, all the hobbits did was put their name on pancakes (which the men facs. should be able to make too) and poof hobbits only same with dale and those rolls, the hobbits dont have much claim to pancakes but the tauredain absolutely do mangos so at least give us something to make with our heavenly fruit

i think i have critiqued everything that i want to so great work and please take my modifications on the suggestion into consideration
