I know some of you will blame me, because how dare I to command you what must be added in the next update #kappa

So, as you read the title, a poll to discuss what should be added in the next update (Of course I mean the 35. update). I think it would be great for our community, as we, the players will choose what they would play with. We could avoid some mistakes, like *khm* Moredains (I'm srsly, there could have been Avari elves, red dwarves, etc, but thanks, god, we have Tauredains, but ignore this).

I'm sure, many of the players would vote some like Gandalf, dragons, Minas Tirith or wizards, but still, we can take care of them.

    What do you say?

    • There was already a poll much like this on the mod team’s Facebook a few months ago.

Elves need villages better structures better units (for high elves like laiquendi wardens or sindar warriors or falas mariners) and better plants (like fruit of lindon ) so no there not fleshed out neither are dwarves tbh they need new units and structures to live up to mannish lands and orc realms

        Loading editor
    • Also utumno is in desperate need of structures sure theres caves and cages but i dont see any unusable forges warg pits or dungeon complexes let alone vaults and web pits etc.

Isn't that one of my suggestions from a few years ago?

    • This isn't about things that should be added, I was discussing that, we could use voting. Also, on wikia it would be more useful, since more players see it, than on Facebook

I was just kidding.  I think that the dwarves do need a bit more work, but I saw a potential oppurtunity for a pun, and jumped on it.

I do agree with Ithilion and Anon that the elves need more stuff, though.

I really don't think that would work for the way Mevans and his buddies go about with the development they have in mind, whether planned or unplanned. And I also don't think it would benefit the mod teams work if they would let their course be affected by the whims of the community. They did a good job with the recent questionnaire, but such methods will not be beneficial to them if they would do that on a regular basis. All valid, unless they would change the way they organise the modding work, but I don't expect that will happen, at least as long as Mevans is not graduated.

I do have an advise for the mod team though, regarding the way they utilise the power of the populous:

      • Close the present suggestions forum. Why? It's saturated. No point in adding any suggestions regarding features that aren't already in the mod, or planned. Focus the community efforts on what is planned on short term and on improving of what is already in the mod. I will gladly round up the endorsed suggestions by updating and completing the overview threads if I knew there would be an end to the ongoing madness.
      • Open a feedback board aimed for non-obvious, concrete, specific and original proposals on improving existing features only. So, similar to the past feedback forum, with a very restricted scope, and with moderation and rules in agreement with the present suggestions forum.
      • Open a mod team managed planned feature community input board where only the mod team can post (and moderate?) threads, aimed at gathering input for subjects (planned features / future mod adjustments) they want the communities input for. Assuming the present suggestions history (many thousands of suggestions) may hypothetically sometimes not offer enough community input on features the mod team works on, they may wish to launch a thread to gather input for a new feature they are working on. These threads would all have an individual expiry date, upon which the thread will be closed and the community is kindly thanked for their input until that point. Of course, moderation can be delegated to the wiki staff, just as they now delegate the present suggestions forum management and moderation to us.

    • why remove the suggestions forum? its a good place for people to pitch in on the mod, lets just let Mevans do his thing and continue work on this amazing mod as well as life stuff, he is a code wizzard and a good one at that. and i think the mod is better with the suggestions forum. see ya.

I generally agree with what I believe you are trying to get at, however I disagree with "No point in adding any suggestions regarding features that aren't already in the mod, or planned."  Some of the suggestions that are about things that are not in the mod (or planned) are more helpful than many that are on current features.  For example, you kudoed my post on grappling hooks - they aren't on the planned features list or currently implemented.

The point I am try to get at is that such actions may cost you some helpful suggestions from people who care, and you will probably still be swamped with unhelpful suggestions from those who don't.  (The latter may be inevitable.)

    • I recognise your view and argument S'moregoth, but already I weighed it in my advise, and that advise is not new anyway. It's all a matter of priorities. With a to-do workload so high and the amount of time so limited, drastic measures are the only way to achieve acceptable focus and maintain both effectiveness and efficieny of the available resource(s) at an acceptable level (= to the extent that the people working on it sufficiently enjoy what they're doing). If at some point the mod team feels there is again sufficient reason to reopen a broad scope suggestions board, they can do so at any time, but I strongly recommend to follow through on my advise for the time being. And be honest, grappling hooks are known to many, as they're used in many games and part of many minecraft plugin/server/mod, it's just that they hadn't been concretely proposed here yet. But if it was up to me, I'd not include them on a short term feature list.

      No.

That is not how the mod works. This is Mevans' personal project for him to do with as he wishes. He already accepts suggestions in significant amounts, more than any other mod author that I've seen, and he does not need us to dictate the main focus of an update. He's the one coding. We're the ones that he's giving this mod to for free.
