  • Recently I've found that many fonts I used for decorating my profile cannot be shown correctly on others' computers if their computers don't have these fonts, such as Tengwar, Aniron, and so on. How can I solve this proplem without making them download those fonts?

    • I am unsure. Since Tolkien’s languages are fictional I don’t think you can count on anyone having the fonts, and people probably won’t go to the trouble of downloading. So you can either do two things: 1) Just spell out the words in the English alphabet, or 2) Take screenshots and upload images of the text and put those images on your page. It’s a strange workaround but it would do it, though if the screenshots are different sizes it will be very hard to get the lines of text to look the same.

    • Oooooops... In fact Adaneth Mirimë and Samwise Filmore already have had their wonderful signatures with their wonderful fonts. Idk how they did it.

    • Sam and I simply used images for our signatures, just as Sir Lazuli suggested. There is a way to have fonts be added to a wiki so that they are displayed for every user who visits the pages on which they are used, regardless of whether or not these users have downloaded and installed the fonts on their computers, but it requires the fonts to be hosted on a website that allows cross-origin requests, and then an admin would have to import them in the wiki's CSS. See this thread, where we attempted several months ago to add a Tengwar font to the wiki, for details.

Thanks. I created several fonts for my signatures, so I am planning to carry out a poll for that. Maybe several hours later.

    • I used "font face" but it did not work. Cuz I found that Internet Explorer 9 only support the fonts end with .eot, while Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera support those which end with .ttf or .otf ...</font>
