Daggers suck. Worst weapon in the mod, even slings are better.
My suggestion is to make daggers follow a combo, similar to how rogues in world of Warcraft are able to use a skill (special move) after slashing a few times. My method is for every third hit (three combo hits) using a dagger, the third hit will 100% crit. The combo points are not directed specifically towards one mob (e.g. you can hit a piggy two times, then hit a cow once to do crit dmg to cow). If the dagger is used behind a mob then it also crits.
A second feature the dagger can do is be thrown. To throw you shift right click. The range will be similar to a throwing axe and instantly throws too, but damage will be a lot less compared to throwing axe. When the dagger hits the mob it becomes embedded into them (similar to how arrows get stuck on player models). Poison effects still proc when thrown, but the poison has the time limit as if you were hit by the poison dagger once. When it hits the mob it also counts as one combo point. The dagger cannot be retrieved back until the mob dies, which then drops the dagger. This makes it so it is good to have a few daggers in your inventory. You might consider this op bc that means you can have 9 daggers in your inventory and spam them. Then my question is why don't ppl carry 9 Spears or 9 throwing axes (bc it looks stupid). They all have disadavtages, axes are expensive, Spears have to be charged before thrown, daggers will have no knockback effect and all knockback modifers will not work on them.
The third feature will give players that wear specific light armor, such as ithilien ranger gear or leather armor, to have a speed boost when holding a dagger. This helps players that just started the game bc it makes travelling easier by using affordable resources. Note: It is too early for me to predict whether or not this is broken, but I'm just suggesting this feature so other ppl can add onto this third feature or take it out completely. Same with whether NPCs will interact with this feature. I will need further comments to confirm whether or not this is broken.
Possible PROS to the dagger features... 1. Strong against pikes. Pikes are hands down the strongest pvp/pve weapon in the game. It takes absolutely no skill and all you do is left click to victory. Throwing daggers allow players to do damage over time effects with poison, while kiting by throwing daggers and running. Though this also seems to counter not only pikes, but other weapons in general. It is more stronger against pikes bc ppl with hammers and axes do more dmg, while pikes do less dmg, but more range. If a guy with a hammer/axe is able to hit the guy with the dagger at least once then obviously it is better than a guy with a pike hitting once bc hammers do more dmg. Therefore buff to hammers/axes , Nerf to pikes.
2. Good for noobs. - cheap - travelling - fun to use
3. Used several times in the movies. Though the movies arn't considered canon. It's difficult to revisualize a scene or concept from the books when you have already watched the movies. Everytime you read a scene from the book, you think of what it looks like based of the movie. Half of the mods stuff is based on the movies (e.g uruk hai armor looks like a copy and paste from the movies, gondor helm was recently changed to look like the ones in the movies).
Possible CONS... I really don't know.
Conclusion:
Thank you for reading. Now butcher me with your constructive criticism. I can take it.
