Ambience of Middle-earth is a music pack which adds the sounds of the world to Middle-earth. From a gentle breeze rolling across the shire, the staccato chatter of birds in the jungles of Harad, or the eerie sounds of water dripping from stalactites in a cave, this pack (hopefully!) adds a new element to the environment.

    Recommendations

It is highly recommended that this pack be used with an increased minimum time between music tracks (can be changed via "mods" button from Minecraft's main menu), or be used in conjunction with a second music pack.

Due to the way the music system works, sometimes tracks will continue to play even if you've left the area they are meant to play in. If this bothers you too much, you can reset the music by going into your options, turning music off, returning to the game, and then going back to options to turn music back on.

    Download

Ambience of Middle-earth can be downloaded here. Current version is Alpha 6.2

    Issues

Any issues with sounds such as hearing birds in mordor or painfully bad sound quality, can be reported here, as can any suggestions for new sounds.

    • Its great, and the birds are beautiful. One comment though. I notied that whilst in the Misty Mountains, the bird track can still be heard. Sometimes it can be a bit distracting and immersion breaking. Otherwise, great work!

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll take a look at the tracks for the Misty Mountains.

Edit: There are no tracks listed for the Misty Mountains that would have birds in them, although I did find an unrelated issue. Do you hear the birds just after you enter the Misty Mountains, or does it occur after a few minutes staying there?

    • From what a remember, In the foothills it played, and that same track continued to play for a minute or two whilst in the Mountains, so I think its just that the track had to finish playing.

    • That may be the case. Unfortunately, it's not something I can do anything about; sorry.

    • Thats fine. Regardless, the pack is great! :)

Click the link in the original post, and click the download button in the top right corner. Next you want to find your .minecraft folder, open that up, and then go to the "lotrmusic" folder. Put the .zip file into this folder, and do not unzip it. Leave it there, start your game, and it should work.

    • I would recommend you - for legal reasons - to post the licenses (or generally think about those) of the soundclips at the first post.

I need a little more information to help you with anything. If you just use google translate  to write in your native language and then copy/paste the translation as a comment here, that would probably work well enough that I can help you out.

have you checked the configuration options to make sure that the time between tracks isn't too long? There's a default time of 10-20 seconds between tracks in the main menu, and 30-150 seconds between tracks when actually playing the game. If that's the issue, you can change that to make the time between tracks shorter.

As far as I can tell, everything is in the right place and as it should be. The only thing I can think of is that your music might be turned off in the options menu, or you've had a longer than average pause between tracks. Sorry I can't be of more help.
