  • Now the morph mod is great and all but firstly you need to go into creative and kill an NPC of the race you want to morph into, most likely this will be an NPC of the faction you want to ally yourself with which means you then need to use commands to reset your alignment and your achievements, This really annoying to do and the mob killing animation is really immersion breaking this can be desabled in the config in later versions of morph but unfortunately not in the version for 1.7.10 another problem is that the player can't sleep while morphed by default this happily can be disabled in the config but the reason why it's disabled by default is because practically all mobs don't have a sleeping animation so from another player's perspective you just stand on top of the bed Which just looks absolutely terrible,

So what if their could be an easier way? Maybe races could be added, but how? Now I know some people don't like the idea so what if races could be added not to the mod directly but maybe as an optional add-on so that people who want to shrink down and be a dwarf could do so and people who would rather keep their custom skin could do so aswell and on certain servers they could have the add-on and on others they could not, Depends on what the server admins think so anyway on to the details:

Firstly players would be able to choose between 5 races human, dwarf, Hobbit, elf, and orc,

Secondly although players won't be able to have custom skins there would still be a fair amount of customization involved I'm thinking Terraria style character customization where you'd get to choose your character's hair style including whether or not your character has a beard (however this would be mandatory on dwarves) your character's clothes what color they are etc,

Thirdly this would all happen when you first load a world inside a cool GUI

Anyway I really hope this gets added and I think it's a really good way to implement it kudo this post if you agree.

    • It’s already possible, though not ideal, to implement races in a server using a combination of More Player Models, and permanent effects mods or plugins.

I had races implemented in a former server (as many other servers do) and plan to keep and improve this feature in a possible future server.

      Some thoughts on your proposal:

      • this is something that has been ruled out for future LOTR mod evolutions, so it definitely has to be implemented in another mod
      • setting skins from the LOTR mod is feasible as More Player Model and Morph manage to do it
      • setting the player’s height and eye level is also feasible as earlier versions of the LOTR mod worked with that More Player Model feature
      • there is no reason to limit the number of races to those you list. For example, I would love to be a 7 blocks tall Ent and just stomp upon the little creatures crawling on the ground :-)
      • customization and cool GUI are nice-to-have rather than must-have features for a dedicated mod
      • letting players use their own skins could defeat the purpose of a race mod if they select something inappropriate or intended to deceive other players

Some thoughts of my own about the way I wanted to implement this:

      • Player Characteristics mod
      • Player’s race mod
      • additional features would be required for special cases such as Beornings (shape changers), but this would also be in the nice-to-have category
      • it would also be nice to have some restrictions on the tools used by some races. An Ent shouldn’t be able to use most of the mod’s armours and would probably have no use for swords and that kind of things (toothpicks for them!)
      • these special cases should probably be implemented as additional mods...

    • thanks for your feedback i also think it would be cool to be 7 blocks tall like an ent, although you would have to make all your buildings gigantic another race that could be added is half-troll since that's also a faction also it's not like this isn't an unwanted feature mindofmike (an lotr mod youtuber) said in his begginer's "i would love to shrink down and be a dwarf but i can't" although some people do want to keep their custom skin so having it as an additional mod would make it optional, a good compromise.

I requested almost the same thing. I searched for mods and there is this mod thats called JJ races mod. The thiing is it's for 1.12.2 and 1.10 I think. This mod really describes your suggestion, maybe the mod-creators could take a look at that mod perhaps?
