  • I believe I have found a glitch that occurs with th NPC's of LOTR Minecraft Mod.

    Here's how it started...     When I opened up the world, I was presented with "forge mod loader detected that the backup level.dat is being used."

    Since I was stupid, I clicked YES and continued because I thought a new backup would be created. So it must be something to do with that.

    This is 1 screenshot I took, the glitch might have something to do with the world not loading.

    When I interacted with one of them, all the duplicates said the same thing/gave me the same quest. But only one of them would give me the award for completing the quest.

    I have tried this without any other mods, and it still shows up. So it's either a Minecraft problem or a LOTR problem.

    I didn't crash, but because of all the entities, the game got laggy. I tried loading level.dat_old , but the duplicates still came back. So it's not a file problem with level.dat , it's something to do with the game or mod.

    Hope y'all can help... this is the world where I'm recording a YT series on, so a fix would help a dear lot. Thank you!

    When you interact with one of them, the duplicates say the same thing, so I think they're all the exact same entity. idk

    • Well, either you messed with the files, or some of them didn't save properly or were modified by some other means. Since the backup level.dat is being used, it means that the original was unreadable. Whatever happened to the original likely also affected many other files. Unless you have something built near that part of Isengard, I would just delete that region file and see if that ceases the duplication.

      What file is the Isengard region? ALso...

      When I took a look in level.dat, it was filled with weird characters

      This is the first line of level.dat -> ‹       ¥½œÅ™>ÜAI€è™%D2`c lpDY€„d@Æiݻӻ;Ö$zf´,ç„sÎgGŒsÎ9àœswNgŸ}ÎéœÃ¿ª«Þª·ê©é¾Ï¿û½ÚÚîêª7<o^Ek¢tËŽí‡Ek7túsûŠÖe£¢{Yk‰ÿ¬Žò§éñìpԍGí~¯úwñ‹Ã«Õë;í|Xп5« >tG¿µ½=?\?^]”C±"Zqɹç]´*Z)þé²V”vç‘»`͝Ï=ÿ¼s/¹DüŸ]&vì-;\,:ÿŽç^xîù]t±Y¸rK¿\(¼¥+Î?÷ûÊÕ[òáhc™Ï¼e§\5hå£bÝþ;^tî…ëæûåºí^1'W®;ÿ\¹+óŒþ¨ß¹Jצ|”‹]s|ÅW‹>jU_eq—þú. |8ŒÔ¯ã'T¿¾ub=è·‡ý^<œôGù¨¯W6ßX¼U"_v—¶xÓ¹s‹íaѹl´Øî´Ú=½.WëŽc/œ-‹¥voaf8Ê{-½¬qIµ¬É×/¬/ókõ‚ô2µ³¸Z0jwŠsç‹Þ\±UÊÆż, zTtnµr-û†QoDÛ>¶½XtºÅh[{´ØÉͶ“ꃰ¯Ûm—Ãý²Õ/w Ò¢]<š¯l/ô6æå~³¥dZÃ6Ÿw:ýeEzÛ›ÕÍ°mwŠýEItHõëcaãë{ ÝœVMYZ«6tò¹}WŽ»E¯_9}eãü+«åÃ%ñ:ãbÓ’üsW꯴»öúK3|Ùl1ºÖôó}3êÜè$^U9‘Ä°“ÏnÏÙ#~˜tÑ¡ÉîÄOVí.—ýÞŽ|ŽÖ¤ š¼d±«3îÒkwàkçúåÜbÑš¯w^ÝF_–ý A\3óþ’½Íöû£á¶¼3¿§ìw:´½UüÖÌçnêg;ÅùçÓª;LZuíë†jÕ1ìx‹nQæÖŒ¸SúÐãàQÝŠb·–ùþÂlë!“^xGzák«U

      That looks pretty weird to me, but I guess something isn't too wrong with it, because I can still open the world and do whatever.

    • That's normal, it's a result of a compression algorithm to store more data. You need a special type of program to open it and have it be readable.

      Edit: Resolved: Fixed about 20 corrupted chunks.
