  • Hello, I had a little problem with high elves fighting gundabad archers today, one orc archer was able to takeout 3 elves as they just kept shooting over the shorter NPC. It seems that after the latest update, many units with more powerful bows simply overshoot as I have also noticed this effect somewhat with Ithilien rangers. Is there a quick fix out there or can this be fixed by the developers? Thanks!

    • This is a frequent issue that I also encounter sooo much times. The elf archers just shoot over the shorter orcs, and simply miss them. It's really frustrating, but I guess mevans never notices this. Would be nice if it gets fixed in the renewed versions.

    • This really annoying glitch which ruins the gameplay did appear in 35.2 with the new bow mechanic. Someone should urge Mevans and explain him how his new system doesn't work.

The cherry on the cake is this has been reported several times for many months. Mevans fixed lot of glitches since; but not this one. I don't understand why it takes so long for this glitch. I just hope it won't remain in the mod indefinitly.

    • Yee lol so much memories of 10 elven archers just randomly shooting at a block with no enemies, and you notice a little orc nearby fighting happily lol.

    • Good to know I'm not the only one bothered by this. I've heard it is hard to program NPCs to shoot differently i.e. aim lower for certain mobs, that being said I don't really mind the old bow system, or maybe the hitboxes for the shorter orcs can just be raised to 'man' size as a temp fix, I can't see that making too much difference in combat.

Raising hitbox could be modified to solve the problem but I don't think it's a good idea. Small orcs or not the lucky ones. There are dwarves and hobbits too. To make it equal, we should raise the hobbit and dwarf's hitbox to human size either so. And I don't even speak of tiny spiders of Mirkwood (or even rabbits! Orc archers miss rabbits too, even if it's not as problematic as what has already been mentionned). As hobbits and dwarves are much smaller than the regular snaga, the difference in combat risks to be felt for evil players. Imagine you fight a Dale Soldier and Dwarf Warrior. You want to harm the dale soldier but you hit the dwarf instead because he's front of your target. So I'm not sure it's a good idea.

The only solution I see is to come back to good old system from 34 updates. It was maybe less realistic but unless, NPC's aimed well.

    • I made sure this is posted in discord. I can't do much beyond making sure Mevans sees it though.
