Titles are names you can give yourself in chat. They are similar to achievements in the way that players need to accomplish certain deeds to obtain most of them. Whenever your name shows up on the chat menu, your title will precede it. This is fun on multiplayer servers when the player wishes to brag about their alignments and achievements. Example:

Configuring titles

To reach the title menu, first access the Lord of the Rings mod menu (default press "L"), and then scroll through the options until you reach the "Titles" section.

In this menu, the top part of the list shows titles, you are able to select, the bottom part below the "---", shows titles, you have not yet earned. You can choose to use any of the titles above the line. If you click on the respective name, you can add a colour to them before you confirm your title. You can also remove your title here.

Trivia

Titles denote some kind of achievement and status. You are promoted to a certain kind of "nobility". The anglo-saxon ēðel- (or odal-) rune ᛟ (= letters OE) means "estate", "nobility", "status" or "inheritage". Tolkien used those ᚱᚢᚾᛖᛋ for some texts in the initial drafts of "The Lord of the Rings", later on, he replaced them by cirth runes.
