Umbar traders are mannish traders of the Near Harad faction. They can only be found in their respective market stalls in the bazaars of Umbar towns. The blacksmith and farmer, in addition to the market stalls, can also be found in smithies and farms, respectively. The barkeeper spawns exclusively in taverns.

Only six market stalls form a bazaar, so you won't be able to find all of these traders in one place. You will probably have to travel for quite some time if you want to find a specific one.

These traders were all added in Update 34, serving as one of five sets of replacements for the old Southron traders (or Near Harad traders). They are different from normal Umbarians in the fact that they all have a coin in one hand and a tool of their respective business in the other.

Behaviour[]

The traders stand around in the market stall and wait for customers. They will trade for silver coins and exchange your money for larger or smaller variants.

They normally are passive NPCs but will attack if provoked; once provoked they will attack you with a tool of their trade.

Trading[]

The Umbar traders will trade with anyone who has positive or neutral Near Harad alignment. They sell various goods according to their profession. They will buy what they need to do their job properly. The traders will only buy or sell a certain amount of items before they will stop accepting that type of goods. After this happens there is a cooldown time before they will trade that item again. When you trade enough wealth with a certain trader, the trader's stock will completely change. When this happens, the new set will be unavailable for a short while, and then reopen.

Trading with any of the Near Harad Traders, no matter which sub-faction they belong to, will earn you the achievement "Desert Riches".

Here is a list of which professions can be found:

Price lists[]

Items sold - Below are tables of values for each item that the player is available to purchase from the respective trader. Use this tables to find out if your trader is giving you a good deal or not.

Items bought - Below are tables of values for each item that the player can sell to the respective trader. Use this tables to earn more money by only selling when the prices are high. You will not be able to sell every item to every trader as not each trader will want to purchase every item listed below. Note that they only buy undamaged tools.

Speechbank[]

All Umbar traders, except for the blacksmith, farmer, and bartender, have the same speech bank. These traders talk about their stall and encourage you to sell and buy from them, provided you have the proper alignment.

  • I just got all of these from a fresh plunderin' trip.
  • Want some of my spoils, Person?
  • Aye, I can part with some of these. What'd you like?
  • It won't come cheap, you know? We had to fish some of these things out of shipwrecks.
  • If you're looking for slaves, they'd be halfway across the Arênin by now.
  • You seem like the type who'd know a good deal when you see one. I respect that.
  • Could I interest you in some of my wares?
  • I'm always open for another trade. What are you looking for?
  • Competition drives better bargains, Person.
  • I saw you look, yes, my wares are THAT good!
  • You have an eye for detail, am I right? Take a closer look at the quality of my wares, Person.
  • Ay, have you come to trade with me?
  • I am sure I have something in my wares that'll interest you, Person!
  • A good trader never says no to another trade.

  • Greetings, Person! Come, see the beauty of the wares I brought along!
  • What is it that you wish to buy? For I sell treasures from all over the world!

  • Our cities will shake off your petty assault!
  • It took me great silver to get these goods. You won't take them from me!

  • If the Men of Gondor are your allies, you're my enemy, Person!
  • I shall not trade my wares or silver with you. Sell your wretched goods elsewhere!
  • The silver of Umbar ain't finding its way into your hands, Person!
  • There ain't nothing for the likes of you to buy here!
  • I ain't selling to the scum of Gondor!
  • You'll get no goods from me, Person!
  • Off with you, Gondorian scum!

  • You're an enemy of Umbar, Person!
  • Stop this fellow, before something is stolen!
  • Northerners! Someone, call the guards!
  • You'll pay with blood, northerner!
  • My shop is closed. I shan't do any business with you!
  • Let us barter and live in peace, troublemaker!
  • Your kind makes me sick! Ruining a peaceful bazaar!
  • Have you got no respect for unarmed citizens?
  • Disturber of peace! Defiler of trade!
  • Leave now, and never come back!

Umbar Baker[]

Umbar bakers are easily recognizable by the loaf of olive bread in their hand. It must really be hard, stale bread, since they actually use it to defend themselves when attacked. They sell bread and pastry and buy ingredients like wheat, sugar and olives, along with bakery gear like buckets. You need positive or neutral Near Harad to trade with them.

Umbar Bartender[]

The Umbar bartender wears an apron, always has a wooden cup in his hands, and even buys different raw ingredients such as raw meat, wheat, sugar, or some kitchen utensils like plates and mugs. Unlike most other Harnennor traders, bartenders are found exclusively in their taverns, rather than in the bazaars. The achievement "That Southron Atmosphere" can be earned through trading with any of the Southron bartenders.

  • You seem all right, Person. But what guarantee do I have?
  • Aye, I'd rather miss out on a potential trade than lose my hands to the guards for trading with a Gondorian.
  • Are you really a friend of Umbar, Person? I can't tell yet.
  • I'll sell you the wares them Corsairs bring back if I can't use them.
  • I'd rather hold out a while before I be selling you anything.
  • I ain't about to sell my steel to anyone who might be a friend of Gondor.
  • I ain't the easy-tricked type, Person. I need my proof before I trade with you.
  • You don't smell of fish. Doesn't seem like you're from these parts.
  • We've been fighting off Adûnâim for generations. Ain't going to risk selling weapons to one!
  • Aye, just like Barûphel, my scimitars are a beauty. But they ain't going to marry a nobody, are they?
  • My hammer doesn't work for them land-rats, does it?

Hostile

  • Perhaps you should be the one to call the guards, ey?
  • Took a mighty long time to forge these scimitars. You won't take them from me!
  • Could you bother someone else with your troublemaking?

  • No trade for you, Person!
  • You've got the stink of Gondor about you!

Speechbank[]

Friendly

  • All these crops are brought to you by the finest slaves, Person!
  • My slaves worked day and night to get you these goods.
  • Oh, well yes, these are produced by enslaved Gondorians, why do you ask?
  • Fresh goods from the land! Come get 'em here!
  • Ah, Person! Need any provisions for your journeys?
  • Looking to work the land? I could always use another worker.
  • I promise you, my slaves are the most dedicated workers in all Umbar!
  • I get my workers from the Corsairs. They often bring some eager foreigners back from their raids, display cages and all!
  • Look for the black tents. They belong to the slavers who sell Gondorian scum.
  • The Great Serpent values those who work hard, Person. This is why the slaves do so well.
  • You seem like the type who'd know a good deal when you see one. I respect that.
  • Care for some of my crops?
  • I'm always open for another trade. What are you looking for?
  • Competition drives better bargains, Person.
  • I saw you look, yes, my crops are THAT good!
  • You've got an eye for detail, right? Take a closer look at the quality of my crops, Person.
  • Greetings! Have you come to trade with me?
  • I'm sure I've something among my wares that'll interest you, Person.
  • A good trader never says no to another trade.
  • That's a price we can agree on.
  • I've already given you my lowest price, Person!
  • You drive a hard bargain...
  • Meet me halfway here, I've got to make a living.
  • If Lord Sauron can have Gondorian slaves, why can't we?

Hostile

  • You ain't worth the work the slaves put into these crops!
  • Oh, suddenly you feel like you're better than us, Person?
  • Here I am, treating you with respect as a northerner, and what do I get?
  • What a foolish act! The heat must've gotten to you!
  • Ey, stop this criminal, before something's stolen!
  • My farm is closed. I shall do no business with you!
  • Folks like yourself make me sick, ruining a peaceful trade!
  • Disturber of peace! Defiler of trade!
  • You've got no place in these lands!
  • Return to your own people, and take your savage manners with you!
  • The trade's off, but you'll pay!
  • The price for your crime is your life!
  • Stop! Thief! Murderer!
  • Begone! You're not welcome here!
  • I bet you're just a common thief like the rest of them!
  • Aha, a new slave for my collection!
  • You've gone mad!
  • Ah, Person. You're a fool!
  • Even if I beat you into submission, you'd be of no worth to me!
  • They say Adûnâim live longer. Does that mean I get more profit out of enslaving you?
  • When I'm done with you, you'll envy the skeletons.
  • Umbar'll never let you get away with this!

Umbar Stonemason[]

Can you imagine being all day out in the desert, mining sandstone? Afterwards working all the stuff to get ordinary or even carved bricks out of it? No? Then seek out an Umbar stonemason in a bazaar. They are easily recognizable by a brick in their hand, which they also use to defend themselves when attacked. They sell mainly all kinds of Haradric bricks and red and white sandstone. They buy what they need for their business like pickaxes, cooked food, torches and buckets. You need positive or neutral Near Harad alignment to trade with them.
