Uruk Crossbowers are a class of Uruks from Isengard equipped with Uruk crossbows. They have all the same spawn conditions and behaviours as regular Uruks.
These Uruks are the most powerful ranged units in the game, as their Uruk crossbows deal more damage than any other unmodified bow or crossbow wielded by other NPC. They are also equipped with Uruk armour.
Spawning[]
Uruk Crossbowers follow the same spawn pattern of regular Uruks. That is, they will appear commonly in Nan Curunír, Fangorn Wasteland, and the Uruk Highlands, both day and night, and in Rohan and Adornland, but only at night. They also spawn in Isengard Invasions, and they can also be found in Orc Dungeons in the Misty Mountains. They cannot ride Wargs due to their size and weight.
Behaviour[]
Uruk Crossbowers will wander randomly until they find an enemy to attack. They will also eat maggoty bread, drink Orc draught, and kill rabbits at times when unoccupied. They only attack players with negative Isengard alignment or NPCs that are enemies of Isengard; they will ignore players with 0 alignment or above.
When they engage a target, these crossbowers behave the same as other archers. That is, they will shoot from a distance, follow the target if it walks away, and dodge and move away from the target if it comes closer to hit them.
Unlike their lesser Snaga brethren, and most other Orcs, Uruk Crossbowers are well-disciplined and do not waste time skirmishing. They do, however, often speak very rudely even to allies.
Hiring[]
These NPCs can be hired from a Uruk chieftain, provided that the player has at least +200 Isengard alignment and 60 silver coins. In versions prior to Beta 26, the mounted version can be bought for 55 coins with at least +300 alignment.
