Uruk steel ingots are an alloy produced in the Orc forge. They are used primarily to craft all the weapons, tools, and armour used by Saruman's Uruks.

Since the addition of Gundabad Uruks, these ingots are also used in crafting the Gundabad Uruk equipment and armour. It can also be used to craft Uruk Gates.

Obtaining

Uruk steel ingots are made by alloying iron (either ingots or ore) with coal in an Orc forge.

Orc Forge

Rarely, Uruk steel drops when an Uruk or Gundabad Uruk is slain by the player. It can also sometimes be found in chests in Uruk camps or produced by unsmelting unneeded items made from this type of steel.

Upon smelting an Uruk Steel Ingot, the player earns the achievement "Uruk Smith"

Uses

Uruk steel is the main material used to make Uruk armour, equipment and Uruk Warg armour. The recipes for crafting the armour and equipment are the same as those used for crafting most types of armour and equipment, except that the player will have to do their crafting on an Uruk crafting table. It is also used for making Gundabad Uruk items like armour and weapons. Nine ingots can be crafted into a block of Uruk steel for storage.

It is considered to be largely useless to most good-aligned players unless it is used to fix a piece of Uruk equipment or Gundabad Uruk equipment to sell to an evil player on a multiplayer server. Good-aligned players also have the option of selling any unwanted Uruk steel to an Oddment Collector should one show up.
