After reading Mevans' Facebook post, I have also begun to find that this mod is not exactly on target with what it should be.

For example, take a look at the Shire, which is one of the biomes with the most content in this mod. Although there are five generated structures that spawn there, along with an endemic species of tree (Shire Pine), once you've been in the Shire for about two hours, you've pretty much seen what there is to see, and you've pretty much done every possible type of mini-quest. The same is true for many other biomes, but to an even greater extent; Dunland, for example, has only about three different structures. And that's not even taking into account the complex politics of the different regions of Middle-Earth, which will be extremely difficult to incorporate into the mod.

What, then, can we do about this?

Probably the best thing we can do is stop asking for new factions and regions. There are already plenty of factions and regions in the LotR mod, and, when you get down to it, many of the factions are pretty much the same; mostly empty land, with the occasional structure to loot and NPC's to kill. Instead of asking about new factions, maybe we should suggest new generated structures, types of quests, species of trees, and new animals/ NPC's for the existing lands of Middle-Earth.

What about roads and major quests/structures, you ask?

Yes, roads will make a major difference in the LotR mod; in my opinion, they'll be one of the best parts of this mod. The same will be true when major structures, such as Minas Tirith, and characters, such as Aragorn, are eventually added to the mod. But, in my humble opinion, the time spent after February 1st (the second anniversary of the mod) should not be on adding new factions and regions. It should be on adding more detail to regions and areas that are already there.

The good news is that you -- the players -- undoubtedly have lots of ideas on how to improve the existing lands of Middle-Earth. So, instead of suggesting new factions and regions, start asking for more content in existing regions.
